(Y/N) struggled to keep her head up as she was nearing hour two of being handcuffed to the table. No one had come to see her yet, let alone offer any medical attention. Her eyesight had gone back to normal for the most part but the throbbing in her head had not.
The door to the interrogation room swung open revealing General Ross with a smug expression on his face.
"You're still alive?" (Y/N) asked, annoyed by his presence.
"I see you really have taken after your father," he mocked her as he sat down and placed multiple files on the table. "Witty comments and screwing up seems to come with being a Stark."
She just glared at him, already fed up.
"But the staring, that must be a result of hanging around Barnes."
"Is there a point to this?" She asked tiredly.
"There sure is." Ross opened a few of the files he had brought with him. Photos of the Devil's Advocate's victims along with the police reports to go with them. "There's no question that you're guilty. Unless that 'DA' on your arm stands for damned Avenger."
(Y/N) stayed silent, not giving him anything.
"The silent treatment, huh? That's how you're playing this?"
She looked down and smiled to herself before facing him again.
"I've kind of always wanted to be in a situation where I could say this, not this exact situation but something at least vaguely similar." She leaned in as close as she could and spoke quietly. "I'm not saying anything until my lawyers get here."
She leaned back with a satisfied expression. Ross huffed and left the room, taking the files with him.
The grin fell from her face as soon as he left the room. She rested her head on the table in front of her, the cool metal felt nice on her forehead.
Now she just needs her lawyers to actually show up.
General Ross walked down the hall with a frustrated expression. The sound of his shoes hitting the polished floor caught the attention of those waiting in a meeting room.
"Well, she's certainly friendly." Ross sat at the head of the table.
"You stuck her in a box and handcuffed her to a table." Steve noted.
"She's a murderer."
"She's a kid." Natasha's voice was hard.
"Technically," Ross said with a raised finger. "She's nineteen and responsible for her own actions. If you want to keep defending her then go ahead but know you're only wasting your breath."
If looks could kill, Tony's glare would have turned General Ross to dust.
"I'll leave you with these." Ross placed the files he was holding on to the table.
"What are these?" Bucky asked, picking up a file.
"These," Ross motioned to the papers. "Are files on every known victim of The Devil's Advocate."
Ross smiled and walked out of the meeting room.
Tony grabbed a file and started flipping through it. There was a picture of a man drenched in sweat, lying dead on the floor of a grocery store. There was also an image of a patch of skin with a minuscule puncture wound, likely from a needle.
"Liquified Ricinus communis found in blood stream. Small puncture wound located on abdomen." The medical examiner's notes read.
He'd read all these files before but they were different now. He couldn't believe that this was the work of his daughter, there was no way. As the people sitting at the table with him started talking and attempting to come up with a plan, he just stared off into space. He was trying to figure out what he did wrong to get to this point. What he could have done differently. How he could have made her stay.
