'Welcome to Mystic Falls, Virginia' Raven reads as she snaps a pic of the sign and sends it to Samantha.
Down the road from the sign was a bookstore, which Raven just couldn't resist. It was painted in warm muted tones and looked almost... homely. She pushed open the door and began looking around when a girl approached her.
"Hey, sorry, do I know you?" the girl asks, tilting her head.
Raven stands back and examines the girl. She has a large amber pendant strung around her neck and is carrying a very heavy looking novel. "Um no, I don't really know anyone" Raven smiled awkwardly.
Noticing her accent, Bonnie shakes her head "Oh my bad. Are you new here?"
"Yeah I just arrived. I'm moving here from Portland"
"You don't sound like you're from Portland" Bonnie says in a confused tone.
"My parents were british...I think? And a few of my foster families were" Raven replied with her head down.
"Oh sorry I don't mean to pry, it's just you feel...so...familiar. Is that weird?" Bonnie laughed awkwardly. She had a sweet smile so Raven didn't feel particularly uncomfortable.
"I mean..." Raven laughed, leaving Bonnie's question unanswered.
"Fair enough...is there a book you're looking for in particular?" Bonnie smiled, changing the subject.
"Anything supernatural"
"Fantasy or History?" Bonnie asked with intrigue.
"You're a believer?" Raven asked shocked.
Bonnie leaned in closer to Raven "I mean in this town...you kind of have to be" She whispers, gesturing for Raven to follow her as she walks through the bookstore.
"Here are the good reads, trust me" she points to a large bookshelf overstocked with thick hardbacks.
"You've read all these?" Raven asks, raising her eyebrows. Bonnie nods.
"Well thanks for your help..." Raven goes to say the girl's name but realises she doesn't know it yet.
"Bonnie. My name is Bonnie" she beamed.
"I'm Raven"
"Well Raven, enjoy your read!" Bonnie gestures towards the books, before turning away.
"Thanks...hey you wouldn't happen to know of any job vacancies in the area, would you?" Raven inquired as Bonnie walks away. "I'm living in my van and I could do with any extra income" She continues.
"I mean, there's The Grill? It's just down the road from here and I have a friend that works there that could help you get hired. I could give you his number and tell him you'll be calling soon?" Bonnie suggested, taking out her phone.
"That would be great!" The two exchange numbers and before they say goodbye, Bonnie sends a contact card for a 'Matt Donovan'.
