Days Earlier
Bang bang bang!
"L/n, get your ass outta there! I won't ask again, lab rat!" A guard shouted, continuing to bang on the door.
I groaned and eventually sat up, wiping at my eyes. I got up and turned around with my hands up, so that he would think that he was safe from me. This plan needed to work flawlessly.
"Good, now stay that way." He said as he walked in and went to grab one. I didn't let him get far, however, as I immediately took his arm and bent it back. Before he could shout and call for help, I quickly maneuvered behind him and wrapped my metal arm around his neck, cutting the air to his brain efficiently.
"No one catches me and holds me for long, dipshit." I whispered and then broke his neck without another word. I looked out of the room to make sure the coast was clear before I stripped the guard of his clothes and put them on. I grabbed the face mask and hat and disguised myself. "If it'll get me through the gate, then this will be worth it."
I took the keycard and then walked out of the room, shutting the door behind me. I walked in the direction of the other labs, getting ready to take down the thugs who took my son, Michael. I caught a very familiar but faint scent and knew that it was his, as his scent smelled stranger than most vampires due to him being a daywalker like me. I kept walking in that direction when I heard a distant sob, "Mama!"
I growled and took off toward him. As his sobs grew louder, so did the number of guards. I broke every single one of them until I reached my boy, who was cradled in a cage like some sort of animal. He screamed when he saw me. I reached out slowly and gently wiped the tears from his face, shushing him. "It's only me, bubba."
"Mama?" He took hold of my hands and jumped to me, clinging to my neck. "Where are we g-going?"
I turned toward the exit and ran out of it, quickly finding a security vehicle. I buckled Michael in the back seat and held his little face in my hand, smiling at him. "We're getting the fuck out of dodge."
As I kissed his forehead and closed the door, he giggled through his tears at my words. I got in the drivers seat and got out of that place in seconds. After a couple hours, I pulled over in a city suburb and switched vehicles before heading to the airport. Once we got there, I took Michael in and went to the front desk where a woman kindly smiled at us and asked what we needed.
I returned her smile as best as I could in my exhausted state. "What is your cheapest and farthest flight out of here? Country-wise?"
"Oh! Definitely Romania, you will love it there. It's pretty secluded with a bunch of villages, but if you're into survival-of-the-fittest, that would be for you! There's a castle up that way that the little man would probably like?" She replied automatically. Michael furiously nodded and tugged on my arm, urging me to get the ticket.
"If I get this ticket, we won't be flying Spirit Airlines would we?" I asked, mentally preparing myself for her answer. If we flew with Spirit, we'd definitely become spirits.
She checked the computer and shook her head. "No, ma'am. You'll be flying Greta Airlines which, by the way, has an excellent track record! You'll be arriving to a small airport in Romania and the airliner will get you a hotel room for two weeks for free. The hotel is located in one of the smaller villages, but this specific one has the castle just to the north of it!"
I chuckled when Michael squealed, excited to finally escape. "Alrighty, I'll take the ticket. How much, miss?"
"$50 each and you'll be on your way! Also, I recommend shopping at one of the clothing centers here before your trip, as that hotel is the only place made for tourists, really. As far as I've heard and seen, there are no shops around that area." She frowned and accepted the cash, giving me the tickets. I thanked her and took her advice, knowing that I shouldn't stay in this uniform for much longer.
Michael and I got a week's worth of clothes and hurried on our flight when they announced over the intercom to start boarding. I was very surprised to see that we were the only two on the flight. The captain came up to us and grinned. "Well, today is your lucky day! No one's gone to that side of Romania in years, so this flight is empty. Go ahead and move to first-class if you'd like! Have a nice flight!"
I waved at him as he walked away and carried Michael into the fancy section of the place. I sat him in one of the seats and buckled him up. "Watch as much TV as you can, boy, because it doesn't exist where we're going."
He shrugged and sat back in his seat, sipping an orange juice that a flight attendant made for him. I snorted and leaned toward the window as we sped down the runway, away from our demons.
If those hunters came looking, I would make them pay.
(A/N: Just to be clear, you (reader) have a metal arm like Bucky "Winter Soldier" Barnes MCU. Marvel owns all rights to that character! I just couldn't get the idea of the reader having one!)
