'The pain only taught him the meaning of the
words 'Blood for Blood'

*****

I chased after my prey relentlessly. Although it was fast, I was smarter. I was leading it into a trap I had set up the night before. It rushed through the leaves, desperate to get out of my grasp but it wouldn't be so lucky. It was moving too fast to realise the shallow hole I had dug up. It stumbled only for a second but a second was just enough. I grabbed my dagger and throw it at the deer's neck just in time and it went tumbling to the ground. It seemed that I had enough dinner for the next week. I approached the corpse and began to tie it up when heard the sounds of horses and distant shouting. That was odd. No one dare come near this forest. It was sacred to my ancestors so everyone else thought of it as a cursed land.

I silently hid away in a bush waiting to see who had the guts to enter my forest without permission. As the intruders steadily came unknowingly towards my position, I started recognising them. They all had pale green skin with icy blue eyes and familiar white marks on their faces that I knew too well. Rotten disgusting Elf's. Years ago I would of normally welcomed them warmly into my home but that was the past. I can't believe that they were shameless enough to walk on the grounds where they slaughtered thousands. Although I guess that was there charm.

I could hear them discussing something that sounded important, It seemed like they were trying to find someone and that someone seemed to be me. They took everything from me and it seemed they wanted to finish the job. Well they would have to try harder than that. I quietly climbed up the tree making sure to hide my kill well. I then climbed higher and higher trying to find the best spot I could take my shot from. When I got to the second highest branch I had a clear view of all my targets and was well hidden. Perfect. I reached for my arrows and dipped them in the poisonous herbs I had brought just in case hunting went wrong. I took my aim and started killing them off one by one. I hit my target each time like I was trained too. I felt a deep sigh of satisfaction. Finally some blood for blood and this was just the beginning.

I made my way down the tree slowly and started to approach the corpses to see if I could find any clue to why they were following me. Before I could get far I heard a shout from someone I remembered and terribly wanted to forget. I guess luck just wasn't on my side today.

"Prince stop! The King has ordered us to escort you to have an audience with him." The voice shouted towards me. I span around with a heated glare to see the face of a childhood friend that use to be the one I trusted most. He was on a horse looking down at me with a hint of guilt in his eyes. He had two royal guards by his side and was wearing a cloak that symbolised the royal family. The First Prince of the Leserion Kingdom. What was this bastard doing here?

"It seems that you Elf's ignorance meets no end. You dare come into my home where you massacred my people. Do you foolish Elf's not fear the vengeance of the dead?" I spat at him viciously. He flinched back slightly, surprised at the hatred in my voice. After so many years he'd finally had the guts to see my face again and it was only under his fathers orders. Coward.

"Please Killian. I know I wronged you in the past but that's in the past. Just come with me quietly and I promise not to let anyone hurt you. If not I'll have no choice but to take you by force. You can't defy the kings orders." He pleaded desperately. I scoffed. Did he really think I would go with him just because of one measly apology. It seemed his naive personality hadn't changed. That's what made it worse. He thought all the things he did to my people were justified because his father said it was.

"Don't you think the word wronged is a bit of an understatement. You're a murder Lairos Adrya. You mercilessly killed thousands of innocent. I have no desire to follow you obediently. Also that sick bastard that you call your father is not my king." I sneered him. He seemed taken back. It was clear that he felt guilty for what he did but I can't forgive and forget. No matter how much I want to forget the night he slit my only mother's throat right in front of me, I couldn't. Nothing could erase that image.

"You dare speak like that to a member of the royal family! We could have you arrested for treason!" One of the guards shouted angrily. I couldn't care less about how I talked to him. He did not deserve my respect so I would not give it. So I blankly ignored him which seemed to anger the guard.

"You little rat how dare-" before he could finish his sentence Lairos interrupted him.

"Stop. Leave him. It seems we'll never see eye to eye Killian Kuvne First Prince of the Luthian Kingdom." He said lightly sad. It seemed he had finally understood my feelings towards him.

"Yes we can not go back to the way things were Lairos Adrya First Prince of the Leserion Kingdom." I said looking him in eyes. Hopefully he'll leave and never return. Only then could there could be peace. But if not I'll make him regret that he never showed his face in front of me again.

"It's a shame it had to come to this old friend. I guess it was inevitable we would become enemies. Although regardless of you feelings you must go to the king. I'm sorry. I really am. But personal feelings won't interfere with my mission. Do it." Before I had any time to react one of his guards blow some sort of dust in my in my face that paralysed my whole body. Suddenly the whole world went sideways. The last thing I saw was the damned Lairos face. It seemed that I would have to see the king who destroyed my life once again. Perfect. Things were going exactly to plan.
