'He found it funny how a villain could learn to play a victim so well'
*****
It had been three days since I had woken up. Apparently I had spent half the trip unconscious on the back of a horse. I didn't mind though, it was way better than having to see Lairos face. We had arrived in the capital a few hours ago and we were currently making our way to the King's throne room. At least that's where I assumed where we were going. They had put a black bag over my head. I don't know what for though, I had been here lots of times in the past and was already familiar with the layout of the palace. It seemed they were in a rush to get me there. Something must of happened that they couldn't control either that or they'd just finally decided to get rid of me. I smirked as a thought came to me. They had found it quicker than I had thought. It looks like I'll have to move up my plans. It was no problem though, in fact I was quite excited. The show was about to begin.
We came to an abrupt stop. I was hand cuffed in special chains that suppressed my magic and then I was dragged into a room. As soon as I entered the whispers started to flood the room.
"Monster"
"Disgusting"
"Scary."
"He's still alive?"
"He should of just died with the rest of his murderous family."
"How could they let him near us?"
"I heard he's got the eyes of the devil."
"They say he's cursed."
Nobles.
I just kept on walking. This was how it had always been. I wonder how twisted the royal family had made our race sound to cover up their corruption. It didn't matter though, they'll feel the pain of seeing their country in ruins soon enough. I'd make sure of it.
They ripped off the black bag from my head and my unruly black hair flopped against my pale forehead. I looked up to see the king smirking down at me.
Rydel Adrya King of the Leserion Kingdom was very different to his son. He didn't have the emotions called shame and guilt in him. He could do whatever he wanted and no one would question him because Rydel Adrya firmly believed that whatever the king did was always right. He didn't acknowledge any criticism and only judged peoples views by his standard. To put it simply he was arrogant and that arrogance was what I was counting on to make sure my plans were put perfectly in place.
"Kneel before the king." Ordered a royal guard. I purposely ignored him and simply smirked up at him.
"Well I see you still treat your son as a loyal dog, old man. If you missed me so much you should of just came yourself. Although unlike you I don't really have the time to entertain an old fool who can't do anything for himself." I said faking a smile. The people gasped and the king's face frowned in annoyance. Oh? Were their feelings already hurt? This was going to be fun.
"Insolent." Shouted the guard next to me. He then proceeded to hit me over the head and my knees buckled underneath me. Well that hurt.
"Enough. The only reason he dares to speak to me like that is because he knows that we can't kill him and that we need him." Sighed the king. He looked at me seriously. He was clearly stressed and had probably spent days and nights thinking of a possible solutions and when he couldn't think of anything else he called me to clean up after him. I didn't expect anything less from the king who was known for pushing his problems onto others.
"Oh my! Look at our little Rydel being smart. Looks like you aren't as dense as I thought!" I said as if I was praising a child.
"Stop Killian. We have important things to discuss. What you hear now cannot leave this room. Do you understand?" He told me seriously. Of course I understood but I was going to do was worst than leaking a little information.
"Of course I understand and don't worry you're secret is safe with me since I don't listen to half the nonsense that comes out your mouth anyway." I smiled. He was obviously annoyed but he just clenched his jaw and then explained to me the situation.
"Well, as you know we are currently in alliance with the Vokya Kingdom. As they are demons their magic is very important to them. They have this device that allows their magic to flow through their land making it filled with the dark magic. Without the dark magic in the land the water and food would be to pure for them to consume. Recently this device has been stolen and now their people are dying. They requested our help to catch the thief and naturally we said yes but a few day of searching we discovered that it was in our territory. Normally we would of just explained the situation but the thief also left a death threat which puts our Kingdom under suspicion for attempting to kill the King of Vokya which might end in war and thousands dying." The king explained seriously, anxious for my response. I looked at him blankly.
"Yeah. And?" I said blandly. I think he was expecting me to say something like "What can i do to help?" What he failed to realise is they I didn't give a damn about this country and it's people.
"Well I was hoping you could take a group of knights with you and get rid of it and any other pieces of evidence you find." He asked. Did he really think I was going to risk my life for him? He was greatly mistaken.
"In case you didn't notice your highness, I am no hero. I don't go around saving kingdoms out of the goodness of my heart. Especially if I get caught I'm the one who's going to suffer. Thank for the offer but no." I told him bluntly. He seemed quite angry about my answer and that I dared defy him. I wasn't going to change my answer either way so he could stare daggers into me all he wanted.
"I don't care what I promised your father all those years ago, if you don't agree I'll execute you right here and now. Do not test me Killian." He said in a dangerously low voice. Yes this was the exact kind of response I was looking for. So I decided to push a little further.
"Just because your too weak to protect your country and your people doesn't mean you have to blame me Rydel. You were always weak maybe that's why my father was always better than you until his very last moments." I told him in a confident voice. I knew this would hit a nerve considering he had always felt inferior to my father.
"You monstrous murder! You dare come to my country and compare me to that spineless bastard of a king. I, King Rydel Adrya, declare a death warrant on this man, Prince Killian Kuvne." The king bellowed furiously.
He fell for it. Perfect. You've played your part well my little chest piece but seems you've loss your use. Now it's time to discard you. Time to move on to the next phase.
Before the knights could come rushing towards me I broken off the chains and teleported right in front the king and leaned down to his ear.
"Yes thats right, send all your little loyal dogs after me because when done with this Kingdom it's going to take a lot more than a measly army to stop me." I spat in his ear and with that I disappeared into thin air.
