'The sparks of the betrayal they had left behind raged brighter than the flames of hell in his heart'
*****
"Hey Killi! Come look I found a pretty flower! Can I kept it?" She begged while she tugged on my hand to the place the flowers were.
"How many times do I have to tell you Rae! Don't touch random plants. They could be poisonous!" I scolded her. She simply giggled and put the flower in her hair then went running ahead to explore knowing I wasn't actually mad. She knew that I wouldn't let her go near anything dangerous.
We had been travelling together for more than a week. Despite my distrusting nature, we had gotten quite close. She has opened up to me much more after that night. I had discovered that although she pretended to be tough she was actually a very needy child that seemed want attention or praise very time she thought she'd done something well. Not that I minded, I'd been alone for a long time and all my journey's had been silent but with Rae here every moment was filled with laughter or conversation. I didn't really talk much but Rae didn't seem to mind since she did enough talking for the both of us. My life had gotten more lively since she came but I didn't dislike it.
Rae waited for me to catch up to her as she had ran ahead to explore the forest we were currently in. She liked exploring new places and was always curious about something. It was amusing to see how surprised she was whenever she discovered something new.
I walked up to she her and then she grabbed my hand and started playing with my fingers. I do understand why she would be curious about them. My race where was very powerful but we were at our strongest at night. Our normally pale skin turned grey and our violet eyes turned a deep red. Our fingers turn to claws and our teeth to fangs.
Of course I could repress that form if I really wanted to. It was just hard and made me really sluggish. After a few days of repressing the form I finally gave in and turned when I thought Rae wasn't awake but she was. At first I thought she would be scared of my appearance but she was simply fascinated by it. Especially my hand that had a glowing blood red symbol on palm when I transformed indicating the growth of my magical abilities. Ever since then she liked to fiddle with my hands when she was bored.
We had been walking for 3 hours straight towards the city of Arflin. It was biggest city in the Leserion Kingdom only second to the capital. This was a place where all the races could come together for trading, quests or information. It also where the next phase of my plan took place.
Although in order to blend in with the crowd I had ready changed my eye colour too blue and made a black cloak for me and a shiny silver cloak for Rae per her request. I had also changed Raes eye colour to blue since emerald eyes were usual. I had tried to change her ruby red hair to another colour but I couldn't.
Normally this kind of illusion magic didn't work because the feature of yourself you tried to change had a strong connection to the origin of you race but this was hardly ever someone's hair which made wonder what race her family had been considering they had been killed for they're power.
She obviously wasn't a demon nor a dwarf but to call her a human or a elf wouldn't be right. I had asked her about it once but she completely closed up and refused to talk about it. The only clue I had was that she had very powerful healing abilities and that was why I had no pain when woke up after we fell off that cliff. I decided not to bring up the conversation again since we all had things we didn't want to share. Including myself.
