'As the hunter closed in on it's prey, he had learned to rely on the girl who was his hope'

*****

"Hey kid! They're catching up" I shouted while looking back at the approaching soldiers. It had been a few miles since we had finally left the capital so the road was basically abandoned and rough. Before we had markets and people everywhere to slow them down but now the road was clear and they were more use to riding on the rough roads outside the castle than the reckless unexperienced girl in front of me. Every time I looked back I could see more and more of them appearing, there was about 20 of them now.

"I know they are! This horse just won't go any faster. Just keep them occupied while I figure out a way to get us of here." She shouted back. I sighed. They was too many of them to take down in my current state but I could probably take one or two down. I reached for the pack of arrows I had stolen from a soldier and turned around so that me and the girl were back to back. I took my aim and knocked off one of the soldiers from there horse. The other soldiers began to draw their weapons but the leader said something about wanting me alive so they backed off. Although I held one advantage of weapons soon they would catch up  and take me then kill the girl. I couldn't let that happen.

Have you thought of that brilliant plan of yours yet?" I asked urgently. My arrows were running out and after they finished we have no line of defence against them.

"Well that depends. Can you muster enough strength to perform a floatation spell to help us get rid of them in the next 5 minutes and do you trust me.? She said in a serious tone. I shifted towards her and saw she looked determined. Maybe she did have a good plan.

"I think have  a spell I could do and I'll trust you not to get us killed." I told her sincerely. She gave me a big grin as thanks and I returned it. What I failed to realise was that when this girl said she had a plan it was code for pure insanity. We made an abrupt turn and rush straight into a forest which was obviously not made for horse riding. Mostly because if some random idiot decided to crashing into that forest with a horse there would be a 90% hit rate. We'd be dead before the soldiers even caught up.

"Hey brat! What hell are you doing!" I angrily yelled at her. She looked offended that I had called her brat but she could complain about it if we lived through this.

"I'm doing doing the plan obviously. You said you trusted me so trust me!" She said while focusing on not hitting trees. Why the hell did I agree to this?

"Yeah, I trusted you before I knew you were so keen to die!" I complained. I was trying to evade tree branches but terribly failed. This was crazy.

"You get scared too easily Mister. We'll be fine. Just remember to jump when I tell you." She said way too casually for the situation. Wait, did she say jump? She had obviously forgotten I had two poisoned arrows sticking out my back. Luckily my poison tolerance was above the average person so I had stayed conscious until now but I could tell I wouldn't last long.

"Jump? I don't think I'm can kid, not in this condition." I said with a strained voice. The adrenaline off the chase had finally worn off and I started to feel weaker and weaker.

"Don't worry! I'll protect you, promise ok?" She softly smiled. I didn't know who this girl was and why she was trying to keep me safe but it was hard to believe she had evil intentions when she smiled sincerely like that. So I simply nodded my head with a slight smile and focused on my spell.

After awhile of a heated chase I had completed the spell and the girl had lead us to the edge of a cliff where the enemies had cornered us. What part of the plan was getting caught by the enemy? I think I put a little too much faith in her. We slowly got off the horse with our hands up.

"This is one of the most stupid plans I've ever seen! You do realise our goal is to escape and not get caught right?"I angrily whispered.

"Shush! Just jump when I tell you too!" she whispered back. Jump? Jump where? Then the thought of realisation came to me. She led us to a cliff so we could jump off right in front of the soldiers so they would think we were dead but we would use my floatation spell to lift ourselves up. It actually quite a good plan. Accept for the fact we were jumping of a cliff! Did she think I was some kind of god? I was practically dying and she expected me to use a floatation spell on two bodies at the very last second. I could already see this going wrong in so many ways.

"We have caught you Prince Killian. Please come with us. If you come quietly we will spare you and only kill the girl." A soldier said in a serious tone. It looks like they wasn't kidding. I guess I'll have go though this plan whether I like it or not but them thinking I'm dead would cause a problem in my plan so I decided to say one more thing.

"Tell His Majesty this: I will not die and when return to the Kingdom of Leserion I'll make sure to burn it to the ground until there is nothing left. Also the girl is with me. Coming after her is coming after me and you do not want to know what I do to those who come after my people." I told them fiercely. Hopefully they got the message. I nodded my head at the girl to show her I was ready when she was. She nodded back

"Well this was fun but it's our queue to leave. Jump now!" She shouted. Then we went tumbling down not knowing what fate would wait for us at the bottom.
