With the knob in its tiny hand, it emerged from a small box, smiling and cooing at you as its big eyes gazed up at yours. You were bewildered at the small creature. Never before have you seen something so...innocent.

"Hi..." you said, awkwardly waving at the small thing. It moved closer to you and a fuzzy feeling tickled your chest as you watched it waddle over, but something was wrong. It looked hurt.

Despite the pain running up and down your leg, you immediately rushed over to the small creature. Now and your knees, you held the child on your lap and asked, "What's wrong, little thing?"

You don't know why you're talking to it as if it can respond. You're not even sure why you already feel a strong attachment to it. There are a lot of confusing, unfamiliar emotions running through you right now and you're not sure if you should be scared, happy...or sick. Although the child didn't answer you, it did hold it's one foot up in a certain way that sort of gave you a hint as to what the problem is. Very gently, you held the bottom of its foot up to your face and you gasped at what you saw. A small, but sharp piece of glass was sticking out of its little green foot. It was dripping with blood.

"You poor thing!" Your heart broke as it let out a cry. "I'll fix you up, little guy."

With the child in one of your arms, you used the other to very painfully prop yourself backup onto your feet using the rusty pipe. Shaky, struggling breaths huffed out your lungs as you moved as fast as you could back to the medical room. The child watched you closely as you struggled to make your way to the other room as quickly as your pain tolerance would allow. Every movement you made was painful. The rusty pipe digging into your pit hurt your arm, but when you tried to seek a bit of relief for your underarm by applying a bit of pressure to your hurt leg, a shock of pain would shoot it's way up and down your leg.

You managed to make it back to the medical room, though. You placed the child down on the table next to your Valkrien helmet. The child stared at it and then stared back up at you as you dug through cabinets and junk boxes for a disinfectant of some kind. "Come on..." you begged right before you found what you're looking for. "Yes!"

The bottle was almost empty, but it was just enough for the little creature's tiny foot. You rolled some of the creature's robe back to get a better look at the wound. You hissed in pain at the sight of it. Dread washed over you when you realized what you now must do.

"This is going to hurt." you looked at it, but it stared at you as if it didn't understand.

Glass is a tricky thing to remove. You wanted to make the removal quick for the child, but you didn't want to glass to break off into smaller pieces. You bit down on your tongue and began to carefully remove the glass from its foot. The child screamed as you did so, making your chest tighten. Luckily the small shard wasn't long so didn't take much time for the glass to be removed. You softly hushed the crying child and began applying the disinfectant to the wound. You tore a piece of bandage off of your leg and wrapped it around the child's foot before using your finger to wipe the tears off it's face.

"I know it hurt, kid." you said to it, patting it on the head. "You're very brave, though. Do you feel better?" The child just stared up at you with its big, glassy eyes. You smiled at its innocence and sat on the table right next to it. "Look..." you pointed, holding your leg out. "I have a booboo too. See? -ow!" you jolted and pulled your hurt leg up onto the table with you.

The child blinked and lowered its ears. It seemed to be worried for you, but you assured it that you were fine even though you were on the verge of tears. You watched as the child placed its small hand on your bandage before closing its eyes. It's face scrunched a little like it's trying to concentrate on something. You weren't sure what the kid was trying to do, but you started to feel something odd in your leg. It wasn't bad—-in fact it felt good. It was like small, sweet kisses were tickling your leg all while the pressure on it slowly began to fade.
