Darryl's POV

It's been at least four minutes now, just me staring at my closet. I'm trying to figure out what to wear. Now, it's not that I'm picky, I'm just over-thinking the fact on what to wear today. Some say I'm very indecisive and that I should try and relax and just make a decision. Most of the time though, that doesn't happen.

"Red?.." I mumble to myself. I was trying to decide between my full-on dark red hoodie or a plain black t-shirt.

"Darryl!" My older brother called out to me. "What?" I yelled back but only for him to hear me. "You almost ready?" He asked as he walked into my room and leaned onto my doorframe.

My brother, Kole, has dark brown hair and icy blue eyes, he was slightly taller than me, too. His hair was spiked out slightly but in a kept way. He was barely tan with specks of freckles on his face and always had a dust of pink on his face, too, with a small round nose. The clothes he was wearing were ripped dark blue jeans with a dark blue hoodie that had some sort of symbol on it.

"Uhhh...almost," I said looking at him and then back at my closet. I grabbed the black t-shirt and threw it on my bed. I also grabbed a pair of ripped jeans, a dull dark blue, and threw them on the bed, too. I grabbed the rest of the clothing that I would need and threw them onto the bed with the rest of the clothes.

My brother already left my room by then and probably went downstairs to make himself breakfast and possibly lunch for later.

I got changed, grabbed my backpack, put on my glasses, and headed for the bathroom.

Walking down the hallway was always difficult, remembering things you don't want to remember. I'd see pictures of me, my brother, and my parents.

I'd see my mother...I really miss her, she was amazing.

She had dark brown hair, long and wavy, and fern green eyes. She was so beautiful, the most beautiful angel there could be, she looked like she was glowing. Her cheerful smile and her small nose, she was the brightest in our family, kept us in line.

In the picture, I was by my mom's side, holding her and my brother's hand. My dad was behind us all, holding us close.

That was three years ago.

I snapped out of my old memories, and then made it into the bathroom. I refocused on what I was supposed to be doing right now. Getting ready.

I dropped my bag on the floor and started brushing my teeth and when I looked into the mirror, I felt more awake.

Ok, you have school today, the first day of school. You look fine and it'll be a good day. I thought to myself, trying to make myself feel better. While I was looking at myself, I noticed that my dull green eyes were a little bit brighter than usual. My light brown hair was a little bit messy and my glasses were crooked. I sighed to myself. I readjusted my glasses and ruffled my hair to try and make it look nicer with the one hand I had because I was still brushing my teeth.

I finished brushing my teeth and looked in the mirror once again. I didn't look half bad. The black t-shirt made me look older and more handsome, especially with the ripped jeans I was wearing. I felt confident in myself. I then saw the very tiny, almost not noticeable from afar scar I had, was showing. The scar was a quick swipe across my forehead, it was at the very top left corner of my face when you were looking at me. I fixed my hair ever so slightly to hide the scar, I then picked up my backpack and headed down the stairs.
