I was in the courtyard with Cedric and Lyra when I spotted the Slytherin and Gryffindor Quidditch teams headed to the field. The captains were discussing who booked the pitch for the afternoon, and the Slytherins introduced their new seeker, Draco. I listened closely just in case something happened, and I was right. The team showed the Gryffindors their new Nimbus 2001's, and Draco started to be his rude self towards Ron and Hermione, who had approached the teams. I waited for the right time to step in, and I don't regret it.

"No one asked your opinion, you filthy little mudblood," Draco sneered. That's when I couldn't take it anymore. "DRACO MALFOY!" I screamed, "WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL HER?!" I came to face Draco, burning with anger, disappointment and even a bit of embarrassment. "I called her a mudblood, cause that's all she is, that's all she'll ever be," Draco hissed. "FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME, SHE'S A MUGGLE-BORN. AND SHE'S BETTER THAN YOU'LL EVER BE! AND JUST BECAUSE THE WEASLEYS CAN'T AFFORD STUPID-SMELLING THOUSAND-GALLEON COLOGN LIKE YOURSELF, DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE ANY BETTER. AT LEAST THEY HAVE HEARTS!" I yelled, slapping him hard. Then I turned to Granger and Weasley. "I'm so sorry, don't let his words get to you. You're amazing, both of you!" I said kindly. Then I harshly dragged Draco away from everyone and to the common room.

"I'm very disappointed," I told him. "Go to your room and don't come out until tomorrow morning, no buts," I commanded. "I'm sorry," Draco mumbled. I was shocked. "What?" He asked, noticing my shock. "I, you-you apologized!" I exclaimed, still in disbelief. "Well, yeah, I felt bad about what I did so I apologized," he said, unsure if what he did was a good idea. "Draco that's exactly what an apology is! You're making progress! I'm so proud of you!" I exclaimed, hugging him. "Aww thanks, Y/n!" "AND YOU THANKED ME! YOUR MOM IS GOING TO BE SO HAPPY!" "Hah, I know. Right, see you tomorrow," he said, going to his dorm.

"-and then, he thanked me!" I was in the courtyard with a few of my friends, explaining what happened yesterday. "Wow! He really did make progress!" Amelia said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Congratulations, Y/n!" Marcus cheered. "Right, Marcus we'd best get going, we have History of Magic," Amelia said while checking her watch. "Alright, see you later, Y/n,"

I sat alone for a while until Luna came up to me. "Hello, Y/n, mind if I sit down?" she asked sweetly. "Go ahead," I told her. I noticed a picnic table close by with the Weasley twins, Ron, Ginny, Potter, Granger, a dark skinned boy with curly hair and that Angelina girl. I looked at them, wondering if we could ever be friends, until Luna somehow read my mind. "If you really want to be friends with them, why don't you talk to them?" "What if they don't want to talk to me?" "Well, there's only one way to find out. I really think you should go sit with them," "Alright, then. Wish me luck!" She smiled as I stood up and made my way over to them.

"Erm, hi! Mind if I sit?" I ask, taking a seat in between Ginny and Ron. All of them just stared at me. "You probably know me from all the times I had to drag Draco away from you," I giggled. "But we've never really formally spoken. I'm Y/n Y/l/n," I said, holding out my hand to Potter, who was seated across from me. He just stared and didn't do anything. But before I put my hand down, Granger took it and shook my hand while saying, "I'm Hermione Granger," with a smile. I returned it. "I like your hair by the way," she said, obviously trying to start a conversation. "Oh, thank you! I actually made the style up myself, I can teach you if you'd like!" I responded, glad that Hermione eased the tension. "Yes, please!" she said, clearly excited to learn it. But of course, Draco spotted me and came over to us.

"Y/n! What are you doing with these people?" he sneered. "Draco stop it," I said in a dangerous tone. "Fine then," he scoffed and walked away.

"You see?! That's why we can't be around her, she'll only attract Slytherins like him! And even if she doesn't, she'll still use and betray us! We can't trust her! She's pretending!" yelled Angelina. "She's just another Slytherin snob who lives up to her house name and is a snake! Slithering around the halls like a silly serpent! Gossiping and laughing at us all! You might think she's a saint now, but believe me, she'll be worse than Malfoy and Parkinson combined! All Slytherins are the exact same! All they think about is betrayal, using people, being cruel and of course lying. For what? To get power of course! So they can rub it in our faces! Don't any of you dare trust her! She's a lying, gossiping, inconsiderate, stupid, idiotic, manipulative, brainless, beetle! Not to mention she's a two-color-eyed freak!"

The table went silent. "Err, I-I'd better go find Dra-Draco, umm, go-goodbye," I got up and hurried to where Draco was, he had obviously heard everything. "Y/n, I'm sorry-" "NO. DRACO YOU SPOILED EVERYTHING!" I yell, tears rolling down my cheeks. "I TRY TO MAKE FRIENDS AND YOU JUST COME AND RUIN IT FOR ME! ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?! I HATE BEING A SLYTHERIN!" I scream, just before running to the Black Lake, curling up into a ball against a big tree and crying softly, burying my face in my arms.

"Hey, are you ok?" I heard a soft voice ask. I looked up to see that it was Ginny, Hermione next to her. I shake my head, and continue to silently cry. The girls sit on either side of me. "Don't listen to Angelina, she's just jealous. I mean, look at you! You're really pretty! And smart, and cool! I'm Ginny Weasley," she said, holding out her hand for me to shake. I took it, and the girls and I kept on chatting for a few hours.

"Umm, Y/n, isn't that Draco? Talking to Benjamin Lewis? A Gryffindor?" Hermione pointed out. "Oh no, I hope he isn't causing trouble again, I'll go check on him," I said, standing up to go over to them.

"Draco, what's going on here?" I asked innocently. "Nothing, we're just talking," Draco replied. "What's going on here?" I repeat to the Gryffindor boy. "Nothing, just as Draco said, we're just talking," the boy told me. I couldn't help but smile. Draco was making friends! With a Gryffindor! I thought. "What? Why are you smiling?" Draco asked. "Aww look at you! I'm rubbing off on you!" I said, poking his shoulder playfully. "Alright then I'll leave you lot to it, see you in the common room Draco!"

I went back to the common room and lay on a couch. Ginny and Hermione made me feel a lot better, but I still can't get what Angelina said out of my head. Snob? Manipulative? Does my heterochromia look that weird? And the thing I hate the most: all Slytherins are the same. I know I shouldn't care, but it really does hurt.

"Are you okay?" I heard Draco's voice ask. "Nope," I answer. "I'm sorry I ruined your chance of making friends. I didn't mean to," Draco said. "No, really it wasn't entirely your fault. It was that stupid girl that was sitting with them," I told him. "Y/n, don't listen to Johnson. You're a true Slytherin, and that means you're ambitious and seek power. Your eyes are stunning, there's nothing like them. She's just an idiot because she never saw anything beautiful in her life. And all that other boulder dash she said? You're anything but," he reassured. "Thanks, Draco. That means a lot,"
