Chapter 7: Sirius Black

Apparently Sirius Black, the murderer, escaped from Azkaban. Will we ever have a quiet year at Hogwarts with Harry Potter around? I thought. Honestly, it's kind of fun. Now that I'm friends with Ron and Hermione, I can go on adventures with them.

We're staying at the Leaky Cauldron because Potter blew his aunt up like a balloon. Yep. Blew his aunt up like a balloon. I mean, I love my aunt, but blowing someone up must be fun. Anyway, when Mrs. Weasley saw the twins' hair, she was calmer than I had expected. She said it looked really good.

Hermione got a cat, Crookshanks. Honestly he's adorable, but Ron hates him. He thinks Crookshanks is going to eat his rat, Scabbers. I never liked that rat. I always had a bad feeling about him.

When we arrived at Hogwarts, Professor Dumbledore introduced the new DADA teacher, Professor Lupin. He also said that Hagrid will be the new Care of Magical Creatures teacher, and Hogwarts will be hosting some dementors.

"Wait, dementors?!" I exclaimed. "Oh, merlin," Amelia whined. "Remember the one on the train? It attacked Potter," Draco told us. "Well they can have him as long as they stay away from me," Amelia said.

"Guys, I need to tell you something," I was sitting with Ginny and Amelia in the courtyard. "Of course! What is it?" "Well, I like Collin," My eyes widened and my face lit up. "I'm so happy for you! If you still like him when you're a little older you might even start dating!" "Ok, the first step is to see if he likes you back. If he does, we'll make him like you even more. If he doesn't, well it'll be a bit tricky but we'll make him start to like you. It's possible, don't worry. Y/n, you're his friend. Go ask him right now," Amelia is really good at psychology, so she'll be able to help Ginny easily. "Ok," I went to look for Colin, and lucky for me he was in the courtyard too.

"Hey Colin," I sat next to him. He smiled at me. "So, I have a question. Do you like anyone?" "Actually, yes I do. I like Ginny. But please don't tell anyone!" I was so happy. They would look adorable together! "Oh, don't worry I won't. You know, when you're a little older you should ask her out. She might like you back," "Really?" "Of course!" "Ok then. Thanks, Y/n!"

I went back to the girls and told them what happened. Ginny was over the moon. "This is perfect! Now we need him to like you even more until he asks you out!" Amelia told Ginny. "Oh my god, thank you so much guys!" She was really happy. I'm happy for her.

Hermione, Ron and Potter started Divination. Hermione said it was rubbish. Honestly, I agree. I took it last year but dropped it this year. I mean, nothing is wrong with Professor Trelawney but the class itself is stupid.

Today we had our first Care of Magical Creatures lesson with Hagrid. I think me and my friends are the only ones that address him by 'Professor Hagrid' in class. Anyway, we learned about hippogriffs. The Professor asked me to ride Buckbeak the hippogriff first. I bowed and went to pet him. Then Professor Hagrid helped me ride him. At first it was a little scary, but then it was amazing. But Buckbeak happened to land right next to the Whomping Willow and one of the branches tried to swat me clean off him, but I grabbed it. The tree started to throw me back and forth. Luckily, I'm very good at gymnastics. I flipped here and there and just turned what was meant to be painful torture into a fun gymnastics show. It was the most fun I've had in a while.

The tree finally threw me far enough for me to be able to do a triple front flip and land perfectly in front of the class. I came out with a few scratches, but other than that I was fine. Everyone started clapping for me.

After Care of Magical Creatures I had a break, so I decided to go to the Great Hall and have a snack. On my way there I bumped into Fred. "Oh, hi Fred," "Hi, Y/n. You were really good handling the Whomping Willow!" "You saw me?" "Yeah, I was skipping class and saw you flying around on that hippogriff. So I decided to stay and watch," "Oh, umm, yeah I've been taking gymnastics ever since I was young," "Well, you're brilliant at it!" "Thanks," I blushed. "Well, see you,"

Draco the idiot happened to anger Buckbeak and now he hurt his arm. I thought he was making progress! I'm going to murder that little beetle.

"DRACO MALFOY! WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DID YOU DO TO THAT POOR, INNOCENT HIPPOGRIFF?!" I was in the common room yelling at Draco. "Nothing! That beast attacked me!" "IT ONLY DID THAT BECAUSE YOU ANGERED IT. HERMIONE AND RON TOLD ME. IF YOU EVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN, I'LL KILL YOU! NOW PANSY'S TOLD HER PARENTS AND THEY'RE GOING TO SUE! GO TO YOUR DORMITORY RIGHT NOW AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANOTHER WORD FROM YOU ALL WEEK. UNDERSTAND?!" "Y-yes," I'm always so proud of myself when I scold him.

"Did you hear that he's been sighted in Dufftown?" asked Lyra. "What? Who?" I asked. "Sirius Black of course! Look, it's in the Daily Prophet!" Lyra showed me the paper. "Oh no! I hope he doesn't come near the school!" "Me too," I don't know why, but sometimes I feel like Scabbers should be in Azkaban, not Black. I have no idea why. I just despise that stupid excuse for a rat.
