Chapter 3:
For the rest of the day, I was a bit upset, I didn’t want Talia or Irma to take the mic of Skylar any longer but I didn’t want anymore of a headache. I felt like banging my head against a wall soo bad, it was plain vile what they say at times and I cant help but feel guilty for not saying something to either of them and shutting them up and putting both of them in their place.
I just had History and was walking swiftly and silently to Drama. Drama was definitely one of my all-time favourite lessons. I love portraying a character and showing a deep and personal impression to the audience. It me and gave my audience an insight into the depths of a different character and how there can be more than what meets the eye. My love of acting has come from a long away. I always loved acting as a small girl. As a young girl, it fascinated me how I could be whisked into the realm of someone else whenever I felt lonely or upset, which happened a lot, still does happen a lot. My Drama Teacher was amazing, her name with Ms Sadie. She loved my ideas and thought they had a real impact on my work. She was a middle-aged woman, always really bubbly and happy with her scarlet hair in a short bob-style do and her elaborate sense of style; She was never a boring teacher, that’s for sure! This course we were studying was all about Shakespeare, one of my all time favourite play writers of all time and we were studying Macbeth. Finding different ways to express the jealousy and anger of characters in clever yet simple ways.
I walked into class, greeted by the usual delight of Ms Sadie, which brought a smile to my face even If it was just for a second. I saw both Irma and Talia already there and quietly sat down beside Irma and a girl called Claire who was just as much of a drama queen as me whilst avoiding looking at Talia since I was still a bit annoyed with her.
After everyone came to class, Ms Sadie shut the door and came to the centre of the Black Box theatre and sat down on the floor with all of us. She began to explain how today we were moving on and leaving Shakespeare for a few weeks and doing something a bit different. She played a song, which was quite an array of emotions such as betrayal, loneliness and agony but also the other side of the spectrum, the sector of jealousy, revulsion and anguish. She began to speak ‘Today I would like you in groups of 4 or 5 to create a 20-30 second insight into the emotions heard with this music, then as a class we will one at a time bring them to life, You are allowed to use some speech but not too much’. I could sense Irma and Talia were giving me ‘the look’ which meant we should be together in the same group. I nodded slowly as my eyes fixated on the floor.
