Chapter Four
"Can we get another round of shots please?" Arlie yelled over the blaring music at the bartender, who nodded and handed the group their third round.
"Saffy, your boss sounds like a little bitch," Jay said, gulping down his shot, which earned him a smack from Rose. Even when intoxicated, she was sensitive to cursing.
"What, he does!" Jay said defensively.
"He does," Arlie agreed, "I don't understand how you lasted this entire week. To be honest, if I was you I would have decapitated him that first day when he asked me to get that second cup of coffee. On top of that, the man clearly has no sense in style. I still can't believe he insulted MY clothing line."
"Can we just not talk about him? I finally get a whole weekend away from him and I could not be happier," Sapphire sulked, draining her shot as well as Rose's.
"Hey! That was mine." Rose pouted.
"Rose, you've passed your limit. If you have anymore, you're gonna throw up." Sapphire stated. She then turned to the bartender. "Can we get her some water please?" The bartender nodded, smiling at her. Sapphire smiled back and turned her gaze to Arlie.
"You know Sapphire, if you were a little more flirty, you could definitely get some." Arlie said, raising an eyebrow at Sapphire, her lips quirking into a small mischievous smirk.
"Oh God, you're starting to sound like Jay..." Sapphire said frowning. She looked beside Arlie to see Jay had disappeared.
"Speaking of Jay, where is he?" Sapphire asked, her eyes scanning the crowd. Her eyes widened when they spotted Jay speaking to the dark-haired gorgeous devil Sapphire called her boss.
"Oh, he said something about going over to talk to his friends," Arlie said, sipping her martini.
"He's talking to my boss." Sapphire said. As if he had heard her, Roy's gaze met hers, a smirk gracing his lips. He waved towards as if they were the best of friends.
"Oh shit," Sapphire turned abruptly to face her friends.
"Oh Saffy, I think you forgot to mention that your boss was so handsome." Rose commented, fanning herself. "If I had another shot of vodka maybe I'll forget that I'm engaged."
"Rose!" Arlie said swatting Rose's arm, "You weren't supposed to tell us that yet."
"Well, you both know anyway, Archer told me he asked your permission before he proposed." Rose said, her eyes shining showing her obvious affection towards her fiancé. Archer is everything Rose ever wanted in a man. He's loyal, understanding and so family oriented. There is, of course, his successful career as a cardiologist to compliment his personality.
"Besides, he's out of the country for two weeks for a medical conference, I just couldn't wait!" Rose gushed, practically jumping with excitement.
"Oh Roselynn, whatever are we going to do with you?" Sapphire sighed, taking another shot of vodka.
"Hug me and help me plan the best wedding ever?" Rose said, a small smile gracing her lips, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
"How could we ever say no?" Arlie and Sapphire squealed hugging their best friend.
"Now, down to the serious business," Arlie said, her face stern, "where's the ring?!"
"Right here!" Rose brought her left hand towards Arlie where surely there was a beautiful princess-cut diamond ring.
"Ohh.. Rose, it's beautiful." Arlie sighed admiring the ring, "Don't you think so Sapphire?"
"Sapphire?" Rose glanced to see the seat where Sapphire occupied was now empty.
