Love her but leave her wild. - Atticus
Chapter Six
Ow, my head.
Mused a slowly waking Sapphire whose eyelids were too heavy to lift. Her sleep-fogged brain was able to tell her that she indeed had a hangover. Forcing her eyes open she peaked at her bedside table where her alarm clock rested. Or it would’ve had it not disappeared. Instead she saw two Tylenols and a tall glass of water sitting on the table.
Rose. I really need to get her some sort of present. She always there whenever I need her. Sapphire pondered while trying to sit up. However there was a heavy mass wrapped around her waist pinning her down. Her breath caught in her throat.
No freaking way. She lifted the silk sheets, which she had finally realized were not hers, and glanced at a very naked arm that was coiled, around her petite frame. As her gaze followed the arm to a very masculine shoulder, her breathing stopped all together.
“Oh my God,” she breathed. The face of the man who had probably taken her virginity was hidden behind the pillow she rested on. She pulled at the blanket and observed the physique of the male resting beside her. He lay on his stomach with just boxer briefs covering his large body. Sapphire felt her heart sink as she gazed at the muscular back of the stranger. There were five things Sapphire loved on a man: exquisite eyes, strong jawline, broad shoulders, defined arms, and admirable back muscles. Sapphire mentally high-fived her drunk-self for her choice in male acquaintances.
Sapphire bit her lip contemplating whether to remove the pillow now or just wait for the man to wake up. She was brought out from her thoughts as the stranger groaned. He flexed his shoulders back and tightened his hold on Saphire’s waist. Sapphire felt her mouth water as his muscles rippled. As pathetic as it is, she had never been so close to a man before. Sapphire took a deep breath and pulled the pillow away from the man. Her eyes grew wide as she observed the strangers face. The stranger was in fact no stranger, it was the person she hated with her entire being, it was her boss.
“Oh my God,” Sapphire shrieked. This was so not okay. She slept with her boss.
“Good morning to you too,” Roy said turning his body to face Sapphire’s, his arm still around her. His usually husky voice sounded lower, deeper as it was full of sleep. His steady gaze met hers. She had never observed his eyes this close before. He had hooded, deep-set eyes, which normally would have been very unattractive as they appeared smaller than they were, but on him, they ignited a fire within her that she could not contain. The definite colour of his eyes was difficult to determine. At this range, they appeared blue, but whenever she has seen his eyes from a distance at work, they appeared green.
“Oh, God,” moaned Sapphire in frustration. She could not be feeling like this towards her boss. A slow smile graced Roy’s lips, clearly mistaking her sounds as a repressed yearning for him.
“Usually I go by Roy but I’ll make an exception for you,” Roy grinned leaning towards Sapphire. Sapphire put a hand on his still very naked chest and pushed him away.
“Heel boy,” Sapphire said, narrowing her eyes at Roy. “Haven’t you had enough from last night?”
“What are you talking about?” Roy asked perplexed. Sapphire rolled her eyes; did he think she was an absolute idiot? It was obvious that they had sex.
“Last night? When you and I… When we… Well… you know-” Sapphire stopped her eyes rested on Roy’s face, all emotions had been drained except one, anger.
“Do you think that lowly of me? That I would actually sleep with you while you were intoxicated?” Roy glowered, his brows furrowed. He scrambled out of the bed, turned to face away from Sapphire
“N-no, I wasn’t saying that-“ Sapphire stopped and Roy abruptly turned to her placing his hands on his hips. Not only did this man have the eyes, the jaw, the shoulders, the arms and the back, but he also had the v-lines, the defined abdominal muscles that surely made 98% of girls’ ovaries explode. Sapphire closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“You without clothes plus me in your bed with you, I was just adding the equation.” Sapphire said as if she was taking to a child.
“You have your clothes on for God sakes,” Roy said combing his hand through his hair.
“Well, we could’ve been in a hurry and you didn’t think it necessary-“ Sapphire blushed.
“Probably still have your underwear on!” Roy pointed out matter-of-factly, crossing his arms.
“Well I’m sorry, I forgot that the first thing I should do when I wake up in a strange place is to check if I’m wearing underwear or not.” Sapphire said rising to her knees on the bed.
“You should be-“ Roy started.
“I was a bit preoccupied trying to get away from your naked arm which had a deadly grip on my waist, I could barely breathe!” Sapphire said sliding off the bed and walking over to Roy waving a finger in his face.
“If you didn’t swarm so much in your sleep, I wouldn’t have to hold you in my naked arms. Which, by the way, were naked only because you threw up on me.” Roy retorted, gripping Sapphire’s waving hand in his.
“Oh, God. Can this get any worse?” Sapphire groaned falling back on the bed.
“Well, I suppose it could’ve if the man at the club last night had raped you.” Roy shrugged. Sapphire breath caught in her throat, she said up and looked at Roy her eyes glistening.
“You-you’re joking right?” Sapphire breathed, her entire body began to shake. She squeezed her eyes shut and the events of the night before flashed before her. The man kissing her. Her trying to push him off. And Roy. Sapphire opened her eyes as she felt arms wrap around her person. Her body which had gone cold instantly warmed under his touch. Roy’s touch.
“Hey, there’s no point in reminiscing. It’s over. Nothing happened. I shouldn’t have even said anything. I’m such an idiot. I’m so sorry.” Roy mumbled into her hair holding her tight in his arms. Sapphire rested her hands on his biceps, mumbling ‘it’s okay’ an almost inaudible voice. Roy reluctantly pulled back, peering at Sapphire’s face.
“Why don’t you go take a shower and relax while I go arrange for breakfast? Feel free to use towels and any of my clothes afterwards.” Roy got up walking to a closet the length of an entire wall, he pulled the door open revealing a wide arrangement of suits, sweaters, and shirts. He gathered some pyjamas from a lower drawer and dragged them on. Sapphire watched his muscles flex one last time before a cotton t-shirt was placed covering his nakedness.
Roy turned around catching Sapphire stare shamelessly at him. He visibly tensed as his eyes met hers. They were filled with an emotion that he was very much accustomed to in the eyes of a woman. Sapphire blinked and just like that, the lust disappeared. Roy received a blank stare. He cleared his throat and walked out of the room leaving Sapphire with her imagination running wild.
I cannot be attracted to him, mused Sapphire, he is my boss, this cannot happen.
Oh, hell. I am so crushing on my boss.
