Chapter Five

Dean was surprised at his forwardness. He had never acted so spontaneously with a lady, let alone one that is engaged. Maybe the fact that she is engaged and wouldn't judge him as a woman would to a potential lover is what put his nerves at ease. He smiled at Rose as they walked towards the second floor. She smiled back, her eyes quickly drifting to scan the second level in search of her friend.

"So... do you come here often?" Dean said, attempting to start a conversation.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. My friends and I come here to celebrate. It's one of our favourite clubs actually." Rose replied, her eyes never leaving the crowd.

"Are you a member? Because I know the owner, he could definitely arrange for that to happen." Dean said, his eyes never leaving Roses face.

"Oh that would be great, but Dean, before you start pulling favours, you should know that I am actually engaged and very much in love with my fiancé." Rose said smiling in the memory of her loving fiancé. Dean felt his heart sinking.

"Of course, I noticed the ring on your finger. Honestly speaking, I could very much use a female friend. Someone who isn't family or business oriented and definitely someone who isn't looking for something other than friendship from me, " Dean said, a sad smile gracing his lips.

"Aw, you're such a sweetheart!" Rose said, her eyes meeting Dean's. Rose smiled brightly at him. From his sad smile she could see that he held a burden that he wanted nothing more to share.

"Why thank you, I try," Dean smiled and bowed gracefully, making Rose laugh.

"And you definitely succeed," Rose replied, her eyes twinkling. Rose leaned against the balcony and glanced at the club, it was fairly old. The walls seemed to have old wallpaper. Although the club was equipped with the latest technology, you could see that the owner clearly tried to make it seem that the club was modern. It looked nice, but for an interior designer like Rose, you could see some major flaws. "You know, this club could really use some redesigning."

"Really?" Dean said, he knew the club was old, he had talked to Roy about getting it redesigned. However, finding a designer who saw eye to eye with both Dean and Roy's vision of their club was harder than it seemed.

"Well, to be honest, it seemed like it doesn't need any improvement but there's actually a lot that be done from the placement of the bar to the colour of the walls. it's a lovely club. You should tell the owner that I'd love to help resign it." Rose smiled at Dean.

"Oh, you're an interior designer?" Dean said surprised, he had expected her to be a teacher or a nurse, she had a caring aura around her.

"Yes, I'm actually starting up my own business pretty soon," Rose said her eyes shined with excitement.

"Well, you can consider this club your first project," Dean said extending his hand.

"What? Don't you have to discuss this with the owner?" Rose asked, surprised, Dean chuckled

"I am the owner. Roy and I own a few clubs around Toronto. He helped me start them financially. He's a great friend." Dean said sincerely.

"Well, I would love to help you out with this," Rose said placing her hand in his. They shook sealing the deal. She noticed the commotion and glanced down over the balcony that overlooked the first floor.

"Looks like Roy had found Cinder-Sapphire," Dean said nodding towards the drunk little red head slouching against the wall.

"We should definitely go down and..." Rose trailed off as she noticed Roy placing a jacket on Sapphire and escort her out of the club. Finally, it clicked. Dean could practically see the wheels in head turning.
