Scott woke up with the biggest headache. The throbbing pain would start, then stop, then all of a sudden come back again and ir was driving him crazy. He managed to get a few hours of sleep but surely not more than five. When he came back to reality slightly, he noticed be fell asleep in the clothes he wore the day before. He was still in his flannel and trousers which only made it more uncomfortable. After a few minutes of just lying in his bunk, Scott took his phone out of his pocket and checked the time. It was around 8:30 AM.
He could hear faint voices, quiet whispering. Moving his small curtain all the way to the left, he saw Kirstie and Mitch softly talking to each other from their bunks. It made the blond smile, the fact they didn't talk loud so they didn't wake him up. It was a sweet gesture but he always treasured it. Glancing around, he noticed Kevin and Avi were already up.
"Good morning, Samantha." Mitch's melodic voice brought his attention back to himself and Kirstie, who only shot him one of her crooked sweet smiles.
With a yawn, Scott responded. "Morning, Mitchie. Hi Kirst." He gave them a small wave.
Kirstie was lying on her side, her head propped up by her hand. "How did you sleep? You were twisting and turning when we all moved to our beds and it was like...4 in the morning."
"Yeah, didn't get the best sleep. Kept thinking about things."
Mitch chimed in. "About what?" He turned his head to get a better look at Scott's face.
"Like...about how I'll have to talk to Avi, if I did the right thing about cutting off Dan..." He gestured with his hand, waving it around as he continued to add the topics that kept him awake, which made Mitch giggle at him as he shook his head.
"Avi is...getting through it. He isn't mad at you, so that's a plus?" The small woman cut him off with a shrug and a reassuring smile on her face.
How was he supposed to do this? Without messing up?
Lying back down, the blond whined. "I messed up. I'm a horrible boyfriend." He covered his face with his hands as he felt tears fill his eyes once again. He truly felt horrible for everything that happened, but he wasn't sure if he will be able to form his thoughts and emotions into words.
"Hey, hey, you'll will be okay. You both will. You'll sort things out and you'll be okay." Mitch whispered to him. He was next to his bunk all of a sudden, Scott didn't hear him get up from his own one. He felt thin fingers raking through his hair. Of course Mitch did that, he knew it always calmed Scott down. As Avi did. He cringed at the thought, he missed him so much that it was even more painful than before, if possible. So close yet so far away. He was positive Kevin was in the kitchen part of the bus, making breakfast, and Avi was just outside, playing his guitar. He could hear his humms through a slightly open window.
Feeling a hand wipe his tears away, he looked back up at Mitch. "What if he doesn't forgive me?"
Mitch only frowned at him. "Oh, honey, he will, I'm sure of it."
"You have no idea how much he talked about you last night. He basically fell asleep talking about you when we all cuddled up to each other and the way he talked about you...it reeks of how much he loves you." Kirstie spoke softly.
"Really?" This planted a tiny seed of hope in Scott's heart, especially when he saw both Mitch and Kirstie nod for confirmation.
Shaking his head, Mitch booped Scott's nose. "You, mister, have no idea how much he cares about you." He stated. "He was more worried if we'd get mad at you. He didn't even care his cheek was still red!"
Giggling, Scott playfully patted Mitch's hand away as he got up from his bunk. "Where are-"
"Kevin's making something to eat and Avi is outside." Kirstie cut him off again with a childish grin.
"Would you...mind if I just got straight to talking to Avi?" Scott questioned sheepishly.
"Scotty, of course not. But are you sure you don't wanna eat now?" Kirstie wanted to make sure her friend was okay enough for the talk and she knows breakfast always makes the morning better.
Scott nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure. I want to get it done as soon as possible so I can hug him again." He laughed as he saw the other two grin at him.
"Well, he's outside. You can take your time though." Mitch informed him.
With a playfull eye roll, the tall blond pushed him by his arm. "Yes, I know, but I wanna get it done now when the confidence has kicked in. And adrenalin. And nerves-" He began but Mitch lightly slapped at his arm for him to stop.
"Now we're even." He laughed and shot Scott a cheeky smile, who only shook his head fondly.
Kirstie, who was watching this whole time, spoke up. "Now, go get your man!" She cheered for him.
With a quiet chuckle, Scott made was on his way to find Kevin. He saw him leaning against the kitchen counter, scrolling on his phone as he waited for the toast, tea and coffee to finish. He really was the dad of the group. Kevin obviously noticed him standing there because he smiled at him and his eyes lit up.
"Hey, you're up." He grinned.
Scott shrugged at him. "Yeah, had to wake up sooner or later."
With a laugh, Kevin pointed at the small table. "You wanna eat somethin'?"
Shaking his head, Scott replied politely. He hated turning down food. "Thanks for asking, but no. I wanna talk to Avi as soon as possible, if that's okay."
"No, no worries, man. It's cool."
With a sigh, Scott walked to the door and slowly opened it. He was hesitant, but also so sure of himself at the same time and he despised it. He saw Avi peacefully playing his guitar and singing quietly along.
"Oh, this is going to be interesting..." He murmured to himself, absently as he sat down on one of the chairs and facing Avi, who looked up and smiled at him.
How he missed that smile. Maybe it won't be as difficult and scary as he thought. It's just Avi, after all. How bad could it be?
