Chapter 5

"Morning momma." I say coming down the stairs. "You're in a good mood." Mom jokes. I pull her into a hug. "Today's my 1 year anniversary!" I smile. "Wow it's been that long already?" I nod. It feels like it hasn't been that long but it has.
"Good Morning." Ashley says walking into the house. "Hey, wow Ash, that dress is criminal." Mom compliments pouring her and I coffee. "Thank you, it's my dress to impress outfit. I'm hoping Victoria pays more attention to it than the disaster I made of her mother daughter tea." Ashley thanks as mom grabs another blue mug from the cupboard. "Those patient recordings had nothing to do with you. She has to know that." Mom adds. Once my mom pours my coffee I head onto the porch and tune out of their conversation.
"Bye Kate." Ashley says walking past me on the porch. I wave goodbye and walk back inside with my empty mug. "Mom." I say sympathetically as I look at her reading notes in grandpas box again. She quickly puts them away acting like nothing's wrong. "What's the plan for today Katy?" Mom asks. "I think Charlotte and I are going shopping." I explain. "And then I have a date with Josh." I continue. "Ok have fun." She adds.
I text Charlotte that I'm getting ready. I put on a nude skirt and a flower crop top with a zipper down the front. I curl my long locks and throw my stuff in my nude coach bag. In my shoe closet I find my favorite pair of heels that are a turquoise kind of color. I walk downstairs to find Nolan and my mom talking. "Nolan." I say excitedly. "Hey Katy bear." He says with the same enthusiasm. "I'm gonna go for a swim." Mom mentions walking down to the beach.
Charlotte texts me saying she's picking me up. I text back ok.
"Where on earth did you get this?" I ask Charlotte when she arrives at my house. "It was a gift from my dad to my mom." She replies. "I heard what happened yesterday." I say. "I don't want to talk about it." "Ok no problem, let's go then." Charlotte replies by pulling out of the driveway. "I was thinking we could just hang out with Declan for a while instead of shopping." Charlotte pleads. "I suppose." I reply as she pulls into the stowaway parking lot. Declan's waiting outside for us. "Kate right?" He asks me as I get out of the car. "Yeah." I reply. "Didn't know you two were friends." Declan says.
While we hang out with Declan we just joke around until it's time I have to go. "Uh, char I have to go home." I speak. "Oh boo." She says. "Sorry but I have a date with Josh tonight and it's our 1 year anniversary." I say. "Wow really?" She asks as we drive away and say goodbye to Declan. I nod. "I didn't realize you guys have been together that long." She explains. "Yeah it's a long time." I add. I turn up her music as we drive back to my house. "Have fun, make sure you wear something sexy." Charlotte yells as I walk into the house.
Mom and Daniel are sitting on the couch talking in the living room. "Hi Kate back so soon?" Mom says looking at me. "Yeah I have a date remember?" "Oh yeah, how was shopping?" She asks. "We didn't end up going actually." I mention. Mom nods understandingly. "Well I have to go get ready, so see you later." I say before jogging upstairs.
I put on a light pink skirt and a white crop top with silver jewel things on the bottom. I do my makeup a little heavier than normal and put on white peep toe heels. I grabbed the same bag I used earlier and went back downstairs. Daniels gone which I'm glad because it's a little weird seeing my mom with guys.
Josh pulls in the driveway and gets out to open the door for me. He gets back into the drivers side and pulls out of the driveway. "So where are we going?" I ask. "It's a surprise." He replies. "That's so cheesy." I giggle. "But you love it." "Yeah I guess." I joke. "So what did you do today?" Josh asks. "I hung out with Charlotte and Declan, what about you?" I reply. "I just drove around a little, did some exploring." He says.
Once we get to our destination. I look at him then back to the place. My face lit up, no way. He brought me to skyzone. "We are such children, seriously." I joke. Josh shuts off the engine and comes to open my door for me. This date is so us. I'm so excited. Once we get our special socks we put our stuff down in a locker type thing and went into this huge room covered in trampolines. "I'm so glad you thought of this." I say starting to bounce. "You know me too well." I continue. "Well you have been my girlfriend for a year now." Josh explains. "Although you could have told me so I could dress accordingly." I add looking down at my skirt that was coming up every time I jump. "Well, I think you look beautiful." He says. Josh and I do all sorts of fun tricks on the trampolines.
A little while later we decide to leave and Josh takes me back to his apartment so that he can make dinner. Josh is actually a really good cook. He used to make me dinner a lot when we first started dating. "What would you like for dinner?" He asks. "Something simple I'm starving from all that jumping." I reply. "Ooo what about macaroni and cheese?" I question. "Out of all the things that's what you ask for?" "Yeah it's my favorite." I smile. "Your wish is my command." He jokes. I peck him on the lips and plop down on his couch turning on the tv. I flip through the channels until I find some lifetime movie that seems ok. Josh comes over and sits next to me once the homemade Mac and cheese is in the oven. I lean my head on his shoulder and move closer to him. Josh puts his arm around my shoulders and kisses the top of my head. He suddenly stands up and runs into his room. When he comes back he has two wrapped boxes in his hand.
"What is that?" I ask. "You'll have to open it and see." Josh smiles before handing me the boxes. The first box is long and skinny. I carefully unwrap the present and open the box to reveal a beautiful necklace. It has 2 hearts covered in small diamonds and another diamond in between the hearts. It's truly gorgeous and I love it. "Josh it's beautiful." I say planting a gentle kiss on his lips. "I thought you would like it, I'll put it on, turn around." I turn around and hand him the necklace he quickly clasps it and I turn back around. "Now for the second one." Josh announces. I forgot there was another gift, what else could he possibly get me I don't need another present. I unwrap the present and there is a ring box. "Oh gosh you're not going to propose are you." I half joke. "No of course not, open it." Josh replies. I open the box to find a silver ring in the shape of a tiara. "Because you are my princess." Josh explains. Oh my gosh he is the sweetest person I have ever met. "Thank you so much babe." I say putting on the ring and kissing him. He intensifies the kiss by licking my lip asking for entrance, which I gladly grant. Josh pulls me onto him so that I'm straddling him now. It feels so good to have our bodies so close.
Beep. The oven goes off signaling that the Mac and cheese is ready. It startles the both of us and causing us to pull apart from each other. "Damn." Josh jokes. I move off his lap and move to the kitchen table allowing Josh to get up and take it out of the oven. He carries the cheesy goodness over to the table and sets it down. It looks amazingly delicious. Josh scoops some onto mine and his plates. He sits down across from me after lighting a few candles.
"I'll be right back." I say after we finish eating. I grab my bag and walk into the bathroom. I slip off my clothes and put on the red corset I bought the other day. Once I'm ready I walk outside the bathroom and back into the kitchen. Josh looks at me. "Woah, you look amazing." Josh speaks. I walk over to him and sit on his lap. He moves his lips to mine. "Wanna take this to the bedroom?" I ask after a few minutes of making out.
