Chapter 9

"What's the plan for today?" I ask mom and Daniel who are on the porch. "We're going to a Greyson Global volleyball tournament at the beach." Mom answers. "You're welcome to come but I don't think it will be much fun for you." Daniel mentions. "Yeah I think I'll pass." I laugh. "I made coffee if you want some." Daniel offers. "Ok. I'll talk to you guys later. Have fun." I say.
I walk inside and into the kitchen. Hopping up on the counter I call Josh and see what he's up to today.
"Hey baby. What's up?" Josh asks when he finally picks up. "What are you doing today?" I ask. "As a matter of fact I made us a reservation at The South Fork Inn. We can get massages and everything." Josh announces. I'm so excited this will be so much fun. "Oh my god seriously?" I ask. "Dead serious. I'm on my way over now." He replies. "Ok. I'll see you in a few minutes then." I say before hanging up the phone and jogging upstairs to get ready.
I slip on a floral strapless crop top and high waisted jean shorts before packing a bag with a bathing suit and other essentials. I head downstairs after grabbing my sunglasses.
Josh is already waiting for me in his car in the driveway. I peck him on the lips after I'm in the passenger seat of the car. Josh pulls out of the driveway and we head to the South Fork Inn."You look gorgeous as always." Josh says. I smile at him. I must say Josh looks really good today. His hair is gelled and he's wearing a nice blue button down shirt and kaki shorts.
When we get to the Inn we check in and go up to the room. The Inn is really pretty and I'm so glad Josh booked us a room. "Let's go down to the pool." I say as I start to strip off my clothes to put on my bikini. "Way to be a tease babe." Josh says checking me out. "Sorry maybe later." I reply quickly putting on my bathing suit.
When both of us are finally ready we go back downstairs.
"Kate?" Someone asks from behind me. Shit. I turn around slowly to see Tyler and Daniel. Great. "Hi Daniel." I say. "What are you doing here?" He asks. "Obviously Kate came here to spend some alone time with her boyfriend, let's just go." Tyler answers for me. Thank you. "Does your mom know you're here?" Daniel questions. "As a matter of fact no she doesn't." I answer. "Then you know what I have to do." Daniel says. "What she doesn't know won't hurt her. Just think you'll have the house alone with her tonight." I explain. "Won't she wonder where you are?" Daniel questions. "Not if we tell her I'm sleeping over at Charlotte's." I reply. "We saw nothing." Daniel says before walking out of the hotel.
"You know he's going to tell your mom right?" Josh asks. "Yeah of course but he cares more than she does." I reply laying down on the lounge chair by the pool. "So what's Charlotte up to tonight anyway?" Josh asks referring to my alibi for the night. "She and Declan are doing it tonight and I'm also her alibi so it works out." I say before jumping into the pool. I feel like a swim.
"That massage was amazing." I say as Josh and I walk back to the room. "Eh I've had better." Josh jokes. Josh slides the key into the door and opens it. "So what's next?" I ask. "This." Josh replies turning around and planting his lips on mine. He deepens the kiss and I start to take off my clothes. "I love you." Josh says out of breath as he lays me down on the bed. He starts laying a trail of kisses all over my body.
"What do you want from room service?" Josh asks picking up the hotel phone. "I could really go for some French fries maybe a burger." I reply. "Ooh and apple crisp with lots of ice cream." I continue. Josh orders our food and hangs up the phone. "I seriously don't know how you're so skinny you eat a ton." Josh tells me. True. "I honestly don't know. Maybe I'm an alien." I say. Josh laughs. "So do you think Daniel told your mom yet?" Josh asks and as if on cue my phone rings. "Well I guess so." I reply.
"Hello?" I answer the phone after reading the caller ID. Mom. "Daniel told me he saw you at the Inn." Mom announces. "Yeah and it's no big deal. Mom it's one night. I'll be back in the morning." I say. "I wouldn't be a good mother if I didn't make you come home right now." Mom explains. "But you're not going to right?" I ask. "Kate please just be safe." Mom says. "I will." I reply. "Be home first thing tomorrow though." She adds. "Ok, love you." I say before she hangs up. Well then thanks for saying I love you back.
Josh gets up after there's a knock at the door. Probably the food. I finally get out of bed and throw on a robe. I walk out to the living room area to find Josh tipping the guy that brought our food.
There's not much to say about dinner we just ate and talked about some stuff. Mainly about Josh's new friends here. He tells me he's made quit a few. From what I hear they're cool guys but I haven't met them yet.
The next morning Josh drops me back at my house. I have to go over to the Greysons with mom and Daniel, there's some kind of event. I put on a light pink dress that goes about mid thigh. I go back downstairs and wait for mom and Daniel to be ready which is taking forever. I think this is the first time I've been ready before my mom.
Once we're at the Greyson's I immediately spot Satoshi. What is he doing here. He's the one that trained my mom and I to be ready for our path of revenge. "Mom what is he doing here?" I whisper in her ear. "I called him." She whispers back. Daniel starts to walk towards him and mom and I follow him. Satoshi has a translator with him so he must be pretending to only speak Japanese. Lucky for me I speak Japanese so does my mom. The conversation was really boring there's no way Daniel will be able to get Satoshi to invest in Greyson Global.
After the longest night in the history of nights. The party is finally over. We head home and get ready for bed. As mom and I are turning off the lights in the living room someone knocks on the door. We both walk over to it and mom opens it to see Jack standing outside. "Hi." Mom says. "Hey." Jack says back. "I'm sorry to stop by so late." He continues. "No it's fine. Is everything ok?" Mom asks mom walking out onto the porch. I follow her before shutting the door. "Everything's great. Remember when I told you about the girl who used to live here before with her dad?" Jack says. Oh god does he know who mom is. "Yeah of course." Mom replies not breaking a sweat. "Ok well that friend from Nolans pool. She's that girl. Only she doesn't want anyone to know about it because he dad wasn't exactly popular around here especially with your neighbors. But I told her she can trust you. You mind if I show her the swing that her dad built?" Jack tells my mom. "No go right ahead." Mom says looking over at Amanda. That bitch. She doesn't even know Jack. She's Lying, giving him false hope. What if he ever finds out she's not The real Amanda Clarke. He'll be crushed. "Emily, Kate. This is Amanda. A very close old friend of mine." Jack says. "It's nice to see you again Amanda." Mom says to Amanda shaking her hand. "Jack has the nicest things to say about you. I'm so happy my homes in good hands. It's a very special place for me and my father. It's good to be home." Amanda tells mom interlocking her fingers with Jacks. Mom clearly notices and looks a little upset. "Thank you." Jack whispers as he walks away with Amanda. I look at mom shocked. I wasn't expecting that to happen. Mom looks so hurt.
After we're inside I pull mom into a tight hug. "It'll be ok mom." I whisper. I pull away and jog up to my room to get out of this dress. I love dressing up but sometimes it sucks. Once I'm in the safety of my room I slip off my dress and throw on a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. I pull my hair up into a messy bun and get into bed immediately falling asleep.
