Chapter 11

I wake up still on the couch but covered with a white fuzzy blanket. I really do miss it being just my mom and I. "Hey babe I know how you like your morning coffee." I hear Daniel say as someone, I'm assuming my mom, comes downstairs. "You know how I like everything. I missed you last night." Mom speaks. Is that what Josh and I sound like to other people. Note to self tone it down because it's obnoxious. "Why do you people wake up so early? It's summer." I ask them groaning and standing up. I grab a cup of coffee in my kitty cat mug and walk upstairs to my room careful to not spill my coffee.

When I walk into my room I almost drop my mug. Josh is laying in my bed sleeping. I set my coffee on the bedside table and lay down next to him our faces close. I lean in closer to give him a quick kiss. "Good morning." I say after pulling away. "What are you doing here?" I ask. "I came over last night to surprise you and must have fallen asleep. Where were you?" He questions. "I fell asleep on the couch." I explain. "Pretty Little Liars again?" He asks. I nod. "Today the guys and I are going mini golfing and we were wondering if you want to come?" Josh asks. "Yeah sure sounds fun." I answer. "Alright then get ready and we can meet up with the guys." Josh tells me getting up from my bed and walking outside the bedroom. I throw on high waisted jean shorts and a white crop top along with my sperrys and of course all the jewelry Josh got me for our anniversary. I do light makeup and curl my hair before throwing all the stuff I need into my purse and drinking the last few sips of my coffee. I jog downstairs to meet Josh and we walk out to his car together after I tell my mom where I'm going.

"Kate this is John, Eli, and Drew." Josh introduces his friends when we meet up with them at the mini golf place. "Guys this is my beautiful girlfriend Kate." Josh tells his friends. I blush and smile at them. I've always been pretty bad at mini golf but I decided to try it because I really do want to get to know Josh's friends. "So should we get started?" I ask. The boys nod and we walk to the first hole.

Mini golf was super fun and then we went out to dinner. I'm glad Josh has friends here and that I actually like them, some of his friends back in the city I'm not too fond of. I get home kind of late so I just go straight to bed  after telling my mom I'm home.

"Kate wake up." Mom says shaking me. "What do you want?" I ask groggily rubbing my eyes. "Get ready for Daniel's party please, it's in a few hours." Mom explains. I groan but get up to get ready. I put on a dress that my mom bought for me specifically for the clam bake. It's light blue with a like halter cross strap thing and the bottom is Tule with stripes on it. It's about mid thigh length. Mom normally picks out beautiful dresses and this one definitely is as well. As soon as I got the dress on Josh walks into my room. "Hello gorgeous." Josh says to me putting his arms around my waist and pressing his lips to mine. "Hi." I say back after we pull away. "Anyone here yet?" I ask. "Nope just Ashley, your mom, and Daniel." Josh answers. I sit down at my vanity and start on my makeup. "Can I straighten your hair? I love it straight." Josh asks. Josh curls and straightens my hair sometimes so I gladly let him do it. Less work for me. "Sure just let me finish my makeup first." I tell him. Every two minutes he asks me if I'm done yet and finally I am so he straightens my hair, perfectly may I add. I throw on some white heels before pulling Josh downstairs. "That dress looks beautiful on you." My mom tells me when I reach the bottom step. Charlotte and Declan arrive like 2 minutes later and I walk over to greet my new best friend. I lightly hug her and Declan before my mom announces that we can go down to the beach now to eat. Mom, Daniel, Ashley, Charlotte, Declan, Victoria, Conrad, Josh and I file outside to the tent that was set up earlier today. We just stand around and talk until Ashley tells us to help ourselves to food. All of us sit down at the table. I sit across from Charlotte and in between my mom and Josh.

"Well I would like to make a toast. To Daniel and your birthday and to the entire Greyson family, I grow fonder of all of you everyday." My mom says after standing up. "And here's to my good luck that Emily happened I got our lives at all." Daniel says also standing up. Everyone raises their glasses as my mom and Daniel quickly kiss, gross. Mom and Daniel sit back down and Victoria gives Daniel a present, a scrapbook. "So inventive." Mom mentions before announcing she's going to get the cake and stands up. I sneak a quick glance at Josh whose already looking at me. I blush as Daniel opens more presents.

We start to sing happy birthday as my mom appears with the giant cake I've been craving all day. Something's wrong I can tell. As she walks closer to the table I notice Tyler's behind her pointing a gun at her. What is she doing? She can easily take him down. She looks at me to not do anything stupid. I know that look very well. "Sit down Emily." Tyler tells my mom. I pretend to be super scared even though I'm not, I'm trained for this type of stuff. My mom follows orders and sits back down in her seat. "Make a wish." Tyler says before blowing out the candles on Daniels cake. "Emily Thorne, poor little rich girl next door. You've had a target on my head since the day we met, now you can see how it feels." Tyler tells my mom. "Tyler buddy, put the gun down." Daniel starts before being shushed by Tyler. "Shut up Danny." Tyler speaks again now pointing the gun at Daniel. "You made it clear that I'm not your buddy and now you're on the losing end of things for once in your life." Tyler continues. "Tyler I beg of you don't hurt my children. Please think about what you're doing." Victoria pipes up. "Oh believe me I have and this time the Greyson's aren't the ones calling the shots. Now how about a party game huh? Something we can all play. Let's call it truth or die. I ask a question and you tell the truth. If you don't someone dies." Tyler explains. "Tyler be reasonable you're not shooting anyone." Conrad says. "Ok Conny you're up first. Now let's take it all the way back to David Clarke in the summer of '93. You have 3 seconds to tell the truth about what really happened to David Clarke. Clocks ticking Conrad." Tyler tells Conrad. Maybe Conrad will actually answer, but probably not. "Tyler please." Ashley pleads. "Do it or I swear once again someone is going to die because you were too weak to own up to your lies. Question is who?" Tyler continues to tell Conrad. Conrad whispers something to Tyler that I can't hear. "Wrong answer." Tyler says before pointing the gun back at my mom. I'm still not fazed by this but I pretend to be. Mom told me that the gun wasn't loaded. I know nothing will happen to anyone here exempt Tyler.

"Tyler." Someone's says from behind us. Tyler looks to see who it is but keeps the gun on moms head. Two people come running toward us. "Alex what the hell are you doing here?" Tyler asks. Who's Alex? "I hadn't heard from you in a while. I was worried. We all were." Alex answers. The second person I notice is Nolan with blood on his arm. What happened? "Mom and dad don't care about me. They cut me off and you're just here so they can lock me up again." Tyler speaks. "That was a mistake. Mom and dad want to make it up to you. Come on let's go talk about it. Just the two of us." Alex says. Tyler turns his head to look at Alex and Jack and Daniel tackle him. "Get off of me. Let me go." Tyler screams as I run over to my mom. "You're not going anywhere." Daniel says before punching Tyler. I pull my mom into my arms and tug her as tight as I can.

The police show up soon and Josh pulls me into his arms. "Why didn't you or your mom do anything?" Josh whispers so no one else can hear. "The gun wasn't loaded." I whisper back with a small smirk. Josh walks me back up to the house before kissing me goodnight and going back to his apartment.
