SPOILER WARNING!!! Anything that will be discussed in this chapter will contain Easter eggs that exist in Episode 8 (or prior) of WandaVision. While I have not seen any material beyond this chapter, it could include details that result in accurate predictions for the rest of the series. As always, I ask that you make your comments purely about Episode 8 (or prior) of WandaVision. Comments about future episodes should be posted on each episode's chapter. This is to help people who haven't seen the most current episode we discuss at the time.
I am including specific theories that reference possible character and storyline spoilers, but I will do my best to note these.
THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this episode! It was awesome and I appreciate all your hard work! Your submissions are peppered throughout with tags. If you didn't get a chance to submit or have any other ideas, please comment!!!
You have been warned! Let the hunt commence!
Highlighted in "Previously on WandaVision": Jimmy and Hayward reciting the information he shared in Wanda's history in episode #4, this is overlaid with the images and articles shared that episode, followed by the post-credits scene from CA:TWS where Wanda is sitting in the HYDRA cell manipulating the hovering blocks before smashing them; Hayward describing how Wanda "stormed" SWORD headquarters to steal Vision's body, overlaid on the video he shared in #6; Vision confirming with Darcy in the Funnel Cake truck that Wanda killed him, and Darcy saying that he asked Wanda to do it at the time- cutting to the portion of Avengers: Infinity War where Wanda says that she can't kill him and Vision says she can, while holding up her hand toward his head, and her using her red sparkly hand magic to destroy the Mind Stone; Vision clarifying with Darcy that then he "came back and died again"- cutting to when Thanos pulled the Mind Stone from Vision's head after reversing time with the Time Stone- and Darcy specifying that Wanda had to watch; Wanda in Agnes' house asking where the twins went in #7, followed by her heading to the basement after Agnes suggested they were likely down there; Agnes revealing herself to be Agatha Harkness while holding Señor Scratchy.
Marvel Intro: BooksRule4ever0 pointed out that at the end of the Marvel comic book intro it turns purple, representing the shade of Agatha's powers. The only other time we've seen an irregularity to the intro was in the first episode when it became black and white, and old-timey. This would show how Agatha controls the show now.
Reese1116Piano had a fascinating note on the WandaVision theme music from each episode: "all of the wandavision theme songs have the same musical gesture in them. A root note descending an octave below, ascending to a tritone, and ascending to a perfect fifth. ('50s: Wandaviiiiiiisiooooooon! '60s: Wandavision, wa, wandavision! '70s: -is family, Wandavision! '80s: opening piano riff and -We got... Wandavision! '90s: repeating guitar ostinato 2000s: main melody with variations and last shot. I can see all you readers singing them all through the screen!)". Thanks for breaking it down, Reese1116Piano!
Salem, Massachusetts 1693: Setting the first scene in Salem, Massachusetts would be a reference to the most infamous USA witch-hunt, known as the Salem Witch Trials. 20 people were killed in the course of the Salem Witch Trials, which primarily took place over the course of 1692 (by the beginning of 1693, the courts limited the evidence that was allowed and basically made it impossible to prosecute such cases). While the accusations started with a couple of young girls, they persisted because of a number of factors, largely having to do with mass hysteria, economic and racial discrimination, and heightened fear of the devil. With this in mind, saying it takes place in 1693 is saying it is post-Salem Witch Trials.
