I look at myself in the mirror as I turn down every one of my outfits. I finally come to a decision. I'm wearing a pair of skinny jeans, a plain white tank top, and a gray sweater. I throw in some gray vans to match my sweater. I pull my hair into a messy bun, grab my phone and purse and head down stairs. I grab a tea out of the refrigerator and sit down at the bar in the kitchen to wait for Jamie. My eyes instantly run to my phone as the screen lights up. It's my mom.

"Hello." I say.

"Hi honey. I was just checking in on you and Cat. How are you doing?"

"We're fine. I'm about to go out. So I dropped Cat off at grandma's." I say hesitantly. You never know what she's gonna say.

"Ohh. Is it with a boy?" She ask all excited like a teen.

"Why does that matter mom." I ask annoyed.

"Because my little baby is growing up. Next thing you know you'll be packing your room for college." She faked cried and I laughed.

"Well let's not think about that now. Okay mom?" I say softly because I know it is true.

"Alright. Kiss Cat goodnight for me." She says.

"Alright." With that being said I hung up the phone. Right on time Jamie rang the doorbell.

"Hey Jamie." I say and gesture for him to come in.

"Hello Dylan. You look very nice today." He says scanning my outfit.

"Thanks. You do too." I say. He's wearing khaki pants. They are slightly tight. Kinda like skinny jeans. With that he was also wearing a short sleeve red polo shirt.

"Shall we be going then?" He says and holds his arm out.

"We shall. But you have to remember this isn't a date. It's just us two friends hanging out. Okay." I say and push his arm down.

"Alright." He huffs and I giggle.

We arrive at the movie theater. There was a huge line tonight. Luckily we have two ticket stands. We finally get up to the stand.

"Two tickets to The Boy Next Door, please." I say and grab my money.

"What are you doing? I'm paying. You're the lady. So put your money away." He says. I do as I'm told.
We grab our tickets and walk in the doors. We stand in line for snacks.

"A large popcorn and a Dr. Pepper. Would you like anything." Jamie asks me.

"A small popcorn and a water." I say.
She tells us to wait a minute while she got our orders.

"A water? Really? You're no fun." Jamie whispers to me. I stick my tongue out and he laughs. We grab our popcorn and drinks and say thank you.

The movie was really, really good. I glanced over at Jamie, and he was gaping at the screen. His expression changed throughout the movie. It was funny to watch. He'd even catch me snickering at him.

We arrive at the restaurant just after the movie. It's more like a diner, if you ask me. I like it though. To my surprise the little place was slightly packed when we got in. Luckily we found a small booth that could fit the both of us. The waitress came over and took our orders. I ordered a burger and fries with a coke, and Jamie ordered a slice of cheese pizza and sprite.

"I'm really enjoying myself tonight. Thank you so much Jamie. It's been years since I've had this much fun. I appreciate that." I say deeply. It's true. I really don't hang out with people that much. I don't hang out with people at all.

"You're very welcome. I actually had fun tonight myself. So I thank you for that." He says as his big blue eyes meet mine.

"You're welcome." I say.
We ate our food and laughed and talked along the way. He told me how he broke his leg skating one time when he was nine. Just as we were about to leave the worst thing happened. Marissa stormed over to our table with steam practically shooting out of her ears. I tried my best not to laugh.

"Jamie! What the hell are you doing here with this freak show." She screamed causing attention towards our table.

"Don't call her a freak. She's actually my friend. Just because she doesn't have the highest status in the school doesn't mean I can't hang out with her!" He screamed back. Which made me and her flinch a little.

"Jamie it's no problem. I can leave." I say trying to avoid drama with her.

"No. You don't have to leave. She's not gonna tell me who I can and can't hang out with." He said back.

"If you want to stay with me then yeah, she better leave. You're my boyfriend." She says smirking as she leaned in to kiss him. To my surprise he backed away quickly dodging her kiss.

"Jamie!" She screamed.

"Marissa, right now leave me the hell alone." He said trying to calm down.
After she'd finished glaring at me she stormed back out the doors cursing under her breath. To be honest I was kinda scared to look at Jamie. I saw how furious he was with her, and I don't want none of that. We sat in silence for a while so I decided to speak out.
"I'm really sorry for ruining tonight. If I'd stayed away from you like she told me to this wouldn't have happened."

"Dylan this isn't your fault. It's hers for being so damn jealous all the time." He says clenching his jaw.

"Should I call for the check?" I asked him.

"Yeah. I should get you home." He says slightly smiling.

"Check please." I call out. The waitress comes over and lays the bill down.
He takes out his wallet to pay but I quickly stop him.

"Jamie please let me pay. You paid for the movie. I at least wanna pay for something on this date... Um... Hang out I meant." I blush as I stare at the floor. He smirked at me.

"Fine you can pay." He pouted and I laughed.

We left a tip and left the diner. We walked to his car and he opened the door for me.

"Such a gentle men." I teased.
He smiled as he closed my door and walked to drivers side.
"Did you mean it?" I ask nervously.

"Mean what?" He asked a raised an eyebrow but kept his eyes on the road.

"The part about being my friend. Did you mean it?" I repeated.

"Of course I did. Why?" He ask.

"Well... Because I've never really had a friend. When people see me they mostly avoid me. But you don't and I was just wondering why." I say looking off into a distance. I don't wanna meet his eyes because I don't wanna get all emotional.

"Well you've got me as a friend now. Who cares what other people think. Even Marissa." He says pulling up in my driveway.

"Thanks Jamie." We stared at each other for a while without speaking.

"Well I guess I better get going." He says and slightly laughs.

"Yeah." I say. Wait a minute...... Cat. I left her at grandma's house.

"Shoot. I have to go. I'm sorry to rush off, but I left my sister at my grandma's house. Bye see you at school tomorrow." I say rushing to my car.

I run up the steps of my grandma's house and knocked on the door. Luckily my grandma opened.
"Grandma I'm so sorry. I was out with a friend, and I didn't realize what time it was." I say honestly.

"It's fine dear. Me and Catrina had fun together." She says smiling and pointing to Cat sprawled out on the couch sleeping.

"Thanks grandma." I say.
I scooped her off the couch and into my arms. She shifted in my arms to get comfortable, but stayed asleep. I walked out if the door and to my car. I put her in the back seat and walk around to the drivers seat. As I was driving I couldn't stop thinking about how mad Marissa was. I wondered what she'd do to me tomorrow. I shook my head to remove the thoughts. All I could think about was Jamie.
