I woke up to an empty bed and a note from Jamie.

Had to go home this morning. Didn't want to wake you so I let myself out. Hope you slept well.
- Jamie

I smile at the letter and place it back on the bed table. I have absolutely no plans today. I could go out for breakfast. By myself. I walk to the bathroom and turn on the water. I step inside and grab a cloth to soap it up. I wash over my body a couple of times before finally realizing that the water was cold. I step out and wrap a soft and warm towel around my bare skin. I choose my outfit. A pair of skinny jeans, a long sleeve grey shirt, and grey converse. I wear a lot of grey. I grab my purse and phone before walking out of my room and shutting the door behind me. The familiar scent of coffee hit me when I reached the last step on the stairs. My mom was at the bar table in the kitchen. Her back facing me. When I reached her I noticed she was on her phone. So she didn't notice my presence until I tapped her on the shoulder. She jolted and looked up at me.

"Dylan, sweetie don't scare me like that." She laughed. "Going somewhere?" She asked.

"Yeah. I was gonna go out for breakfast. You wanna come?" I ask.

"No sweetie that's fine. I'll stay here. Cat is still sleep." She looked back down at her phone screen when a message popped up.

"Oh. Well do you need me to get anything while I'm out. I could stop by the store if you want." I offer.

"That would be great. Let me just make a list. Do you mind?" She asks taking out a pen.

"No, of course not." I say and slide in the chair next to her.

After she's done with the list I say goodbye and head out the door to my car. Grey clouds form overhead and I feel a little raindrop on my nose. I don't know why but it made me laugh. I get in my car and start driving down the road to a restaurant. The restaurant was packed, but luckily I found a small booth that fit me.

"What would you like ma'am?" A women with a blue and white apron on came to me with a pencil and pad.

"I'll have the bacon and eggs special. Please." I said back.

"Coming right up." She smiled and turned on her heel to leave me but before she could a voice startled me.

"Make that two of those please." Jamie said sliding into the booth. He smiled at me and waved.

"Jamie what are you doing here. This is so..." I trailed off not knowing what to say.

"Ironic?" He questioned with a victorious smirk.

"Yes, very. So what brings you here?" I question.

"Well on my way home I saw your car and decided to get breakfast." He says.

"Well that's good.. I guess." I said with a shy grin.

We sat in awkward silence as we waited for the food to get here. It was kinda weird. No it was weird. When I looked up is catch him glancing at me with a smile. I know that my feelings progressed for him, but I would never tell him that. I knew that a little spark of liking him grew the first time we went out. The way he called me his friend. The way he stood up for me when Marissa was being a bitch. I really hate her.

Jamie had a worried look on his face. Like something was bothering him. So, of course, I had to ask him what was wrong.

"Is there something wrong?" I ask with a frown.

"Um. Actually there is. I uhh.. Broke up with Marissa." He says looking away.

I gaped at him in shock.
