It was Monday morning and I'd been woke up by my alarm. Why did this day have to come so fast? Why can't I just drop out of school and sleep for the rest of my life? I know why. The answer is that my mom would kill me, revive me, and then kill me again. Then she'd give me a lecture. I could just hear it now.

I did not bring you on this earth for you to just throw your life away. You are gonna go to school and you are going to like it.

If anyone is good at giving lectures, it's that crazy woman.

I got out of my bed and walked to the bathroom. I took a quick shower and got out of the bathroom to find my outfit for the day. I chose a flowery crop top with ripped blue jean shorts. I also chose a cream looking cardigan to go with it. To top off my outfit I put on some blackish- brownish boots. I stood staring at my reflection in the full length mirror. I looked good! I wish I could feel as good as I looked. I walked down stairs and I could hear laughing of some sort. I wasn't sure so I walked in the kitchen and froze in my tracks.

"Marissa, what are you doing here?" I questioned. What the heck was she doing in my house!

"I came to take you to school today. Your mom is so lovely." She smiled at my mom and my mother returned the gesture.

"Thanks, but no thanks. I can drive myself to school." I snap.

"Now, that is no way to treat a guess. Especially a guess who is offering you a ride to school. She's saving you gas." My mom butted in.

"Come on Dylan!" Marissa whined. "We can have girly talk about boys." She smiled evily. You and I both know that this is not gonna turn out good.

I looked at my mom, her, then back at my mom and sighed. I kissed my mom on the cheek and said goodbye.

Once we were in the car she slammed the door hard.

"Dylan, Dylan, Dylan." She shook her head like she was ashamed.

"Marissa, Marissa, Marissa." I mimicked her.

"Shut up!" She snapped. "You do know why I brought you here right?" She asked and I slowly shook my head.

"Well did you know that whenever Jamie texts someone I get notifications?" I shook my head. How?

"Don't ask how! Now-" she grinned evily just like before. "You, my precious, are gonna decline that date from Jamie. I don't want you anywhere near him, if I haven't made myself clear enough. You'll regret if you don't. I know I've said that plenty of times before, but I mean it." I was so caught up in what she was saying that I hadn't even realized that she was driving.

"If I don't?" I surprised myself at the confidence I just sparked up.

"Are you deaf or just stupid?" She smirked. "I will deal with you if you don't decline the date. Now get out, were here!" She half yelled.

Oh, so you can practically send me a death threat, but give me a ride to school?

That is super backwards to me. Probably backwards to all of you. I mean, I thought she was going to kick me to the curb and make me walk!

As I'm walking to the schools doors I hear someone behind me that sounds like they just ran a whole mile without stopping! That might not be much, but hey, I don't like running.

"Dylan! Dang girl you walk fast!" Jamie smiles at me, still out of breath.

"You must have important news, if you're that out of breath." I return the smile.

"Yes, I do. The date. We are-" My smile quickly fades at the mention of the date. As if he reads my mind Jamie speaks.

"What's wrong?" He's ask frowning.

"I... Uh.. Can't go on the date." I fumble my words and look away from his gaze.

"Why not?" He pouts.

Oh lord, why me? He just has to pout. Like that's making things any better. Note the sarcasm. I bite my lip and tried to think of an excuse.

"I-I have t-to um... Umm... I don't know." I finally admit.

"Thought so." He chuckled.

"Yeah! Sooo." I smiled shyly.

"Oh yeah! The date. I just wanted to let you know that I will pick you up this Saturday. At seven o' clock?" He questions.

"That would be great. What should I wear?" I ask.

"Clothes!" He laughs and I send a glare his way. He immediately stops laughing, but I can tell he's dying on the inside.

"For real Jamie!" I pout.

"Awe! Don't do that. I was just kidding. I just had to say that." He smiles which warms my heart. "You can wear something casual. Like shorts or a tank top. Whatever you think is causal." He says still grinning.

"Alright. Thanks. I guess we better get to class." I say as the students start to move out of the halls and into the classrooms. Why didn't the bell go off?

"Yeah, I guess we better." He gives me another one of those dashing smiles, before he turns to walk away. Leaving me completely mesmerized.

I walk of to class with a goofy grin on my face. I feel good!

*******

Ugh. School was a complete bore! A big thumbs down! I walk out of school, and the bright sun instantly hits my smooth skin. I start walking but stop. Wait... If Marissa brought me here this morning that means.... Ding ding ding. That's right. You don't have a ride idiot. My self conscious adds sarcastically.

"Shut up." I mutter rather loudly.

"But I haven't even said anything yet." I almost jump out of my skin, to turn around to a frowning Jamie.

"Oh! I'm sorry I didn't mean you. I meant uhh.... Well hey, what are you doing here?" I try to change the subject.

He only chuckles. "I was about to go home, but I saw you. What are you doing here?" He questions.

"I also was about to go home, but then I realized that my mom brought me this morning so I have no ride." I frown.

"You do now!" Jamie says rather eagerly.

"No, no! I could walk. It's fine." I say to quick.

"You don't wanna ride with me?" He pouts once again.

"No it's not that, it's just I don't want you to have to waste your gas when I have to legs."

"Don't be silly! I can take you home." He says while dragging me to his car.

Once we get in the car he starts the car, and he's off down the road. The ride was awkward until Jamie cleared his throat.

"Sooo Dylan. How's school?" Jamie ask. For some reason he sounds nervous. Which causes me to laugh.

"What's funny?" He ask frowning.

"Oh nothing. School is great. How about you?" I ask. I watch him as he keeps his eyes on the road.

He's so beautiful or handsome. His blue eyes go perfectly with his dirty blonde hair. It's perfect.

"It's not polite to stare Mrs. Greene." Jamie chuckles. I blush.

"I'm sorry. Oh we are here!" I say as I rush to grab my things.

You were to busy taking in my perfect face!" Jamie laughs this time.

"Good bye Jamie." I smile.

"Good bye Dylan." He smiles back.
