Once Tracy walks away, LaMelo turns his attention to me.

His eyes shift towards the front door and then back to me. I can see hint of worry in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked ask I start to turn towards the door.

LaMelo grabs my arm and makes me look at him.

"Jose just walked in with some of his friends and he's coming this way."

I sigh and lean casually against the counter and LaMelo opens himself another beer.

Jose walks over to us and I look him up and down.

"Sup Daya," Jose smiles as he looks me up and down. "You look nice."

"Thanks."

Jose nods his head and glances at LaMelo who is taking a sip of his beer and looking around awkwardly.

"LaMelo," Jose glares at LaMelo.

"DeLaRosa." LaMelo replies, glaring back at him.

The tension in the air is extremely thick until someone calls LaMelo's name.

It's another guy who's older than him who looks like him. My guess is that that's his oldest brother Lonzo.

LaMelo throws his head back and downs his beer as he walks over to who I'm assuming is his brother. He bumps into about three people in the process.

Oh, great. Now it's just me and Jose and his wanna be gangster looking friends.

I pull out my phone and scroll through my Instagram. I glance back up at where LaMelo was standing and he's no longer there.

"If you get a chance, can we talk?" Jose asked.

"Depends." I reply bluntly as I continue scrolling.

"On what?"

"If I feel like talking to you." I glance up at Jose, my ex, who is looking at me confused and then I look back down at my phone. "I've honestly already reached my limit with Jose time for the next thirty years, so that talk may never happen."

I lean up from the counter and begin to walk away.

Jose smack his lips and mumbles something under his breath.

"Come on, Daya." He grabs my wrist and pulls me closer to him.

His grip is a little too tight for my liking and I try to loosen it.

"Can you let go of me?!"

"Just give me a minute of your time." Jose demands as he pulls my body closer to him.

"This whole interaction is taking up three minutes of my life, so no." I let out a nervous chuckle before speaking again. "Now let go of me, that hurts!"

Jose lowers his voice to a whisper and leans towards my ear.

"Come on, you're embarrassing me in front of my new friends."

His lips are close enough for him to nibble on my ear if he wanted to. At the sound of his voice, my body gets chills. He sounds different.

I shove Jose away from me and he loosens his grip on my wrist. I take this as a chance to yank my wrist from his hand and punch him in his arm.

Looking down at my wrist, I see that it is turning red.

I look back up towards Jose and his friends and I'm greeted with a gun pointed at me.

"H-hey, what're you-!"

My heart rate speeds up and my hands are shaking. I try not to move my body because this guy could shoot me at any moment. My eyes glance around the room as I try to find someone who is paying attention to me, but everyone at this party is busy doing their own thing and it'll probably stay that way until the gunshots actually go off.

"José, ¿te está molestando?" (Jose, this girl bothering you?)

"No, no guarde esa pistola!" (No, no put that gun away!)

The friend puts his gun away and turns towards me.

My eyes begin to burn and tears cling to my bottom eyelid before they fall down my checks.

"Let's go." Jose turns to leave and his friends follow him.

Before he walks away he turns to look at me and then walks away.

I- I guess they weren't wanna be gangsters, they were actual gang members...

I take a second to regain my composure and make my way to find either Tracy or LaMelo so I don't have to be alone.
