During lunch, I meet up with Jose at our usual spot.
We don't do very much talking, and there is an awkward silence that fills the area.
"Babe?" Jose calls grabbing my attention.
"What?"
"Are you like mad at me or something?" Jose asked while taking a sip of his milk.
"Hm?" I paused pretending to think of something to say. "I don't know, smarty pants, am I?"
"I don't see why you're mad at me!"
Rolling my eyes, I look up at my boyfriend.
"Earlier when I asked you how you knew Vanessa, you said from Spanish class!" I begin and Jose nods his head.
"I do know her from Spanish class! How's that a problem?"
"She's your fucking ex!" I roll my eyes again.
"Oh my gosh, Daya, come on!" Jose groans while he runs a hand through his hair.
He opens his mouth to speak again but nothing comes out.
We sit there staring at each other not saying a word.
"You lied!" I finally say.
The words leave my mouth more aggressively than I expected them to be.
"I didn't lie..." Jose states while raising his voice a bit.
"I asked you if that was it and you said, and I quote, "Y-yeah," that should have been your time to tell me the fucking truth! You do not only know her from Spanish class, you know her because you guys used to date!"
"Exactly!" Jose shouts. "We used to date!"
I stare at him for a second not saying anything.
Jose grabs my hand that's resting on the table and he looks me in the eyes.
"Daya, you seriously don't have anything to worry about!"
"I guess," I look away from him.
There a moment of silence before I speak again.
"I don't mind you hanging with her, just don't be all up on her!"
"I'm not on her, she's all up on me!" Jose replies.
"Whatever it is, don't let it happen again or else," I glare at Jose and he smirks.
"Is that a threat?" Jose asked with a slight chuckle.
I roll my eyes.
"Just shut up..." I state.
Tracy and LaMelo walk over to me and Jose and they sit down.
"Hey peeps," Tracy states while unwrapping her sandwich.
"Hi," I smile at Tracy.
