Skylar
I had been summoned to Bolton's office and I had absolutely no idea as to why. I'd hoped that he wasn't going to bite my head off about not telling him about Glenda. I just had to believe that it was anything but that. I made my way down to his office feeling like I was walking into the Lion's den for judgement day. I pull up to Bolton's door and take a deep breath composing myself before I knock on his door and waited patiently for his permission to enter.
"Come in." I hear his voice from the other side of the door and I push the heavy door open and make my way inside. Bolton points out the chair opposite his own and I take a seat and clasp my hands in my lap and await my verdict. "First off Sky, I just want to apologize for what happened in the office. It was very unprofessional. I just couldn't believe it when I saw Sam banging my wife, on her desk no less." He sighs and then continues. "Anyway why didn't you say thing when you caught them?"
"I honestly didn't think it was my place. I took a picture just in case I had to tell you. At least I had evidence but then I kept thinking when would have been the right time to tell you."
"I understand Sky. I'm sorry you had to be put into that position in the first place. Anyway I need you to take Glenda's position for now. I know you haven't been happy here in some time and I have seen your photography skills so I knew sooner rather than later you would have been moving on."
I look at the man before me and breathe a huge sigh of relief. "I'm sorry I didn't say anything. I was having to deal with Glenda's crap everyday and I lost passion for the job along the way."
"Don't be silly. I understand completely. Honestly I don't think you had passion for this job. You just hate to let people down, you are a people pleaser so you stayed on because you didn't want to let me down. I hope you can help me to find a replacement before you do plan to leave. I'll pay you the same as Glenda."
"Oh no that's not necessary."
"Of course it is Sky. You have saved my ass more than once in this job. Please let me repay that favour. I knew something was wrong hence why I started to have her investigated. This morning however, was only a coincidence that I was in the office." I smile at him as he looks like he is concentrating. He snaps out of his gaze and looks at me again awaiting my reply. I agree to his offer knowing that I won't win. We go over the terms and agreements in my new temporary contract and when we are finished it's time for lunch.
I have been so distracted today and I think it's because I know that Simon is meeting his mom today to discuss something. I think that's why he has been so weird these last couple of days as well. I'm even more nervous because today might be the day he finds out about his dad. I'm suddenly regretting my decision to stay at my house tonight just incase Simon needed me tonight.
Jade and I decide to try another pub for lunch today. We walk inside and we're told to sit anywhere we'd like. We are handed food menus after we place our order for our drinks and we fall into a comfortable silence. I'm looking at the menu but not taking anything in because I keep thinking about what exactly Simon is doing right now.
"Sky, did you hear me?"
"Huh?" I look up from my menu to see Jade's face laced with worry.
"Is everything OK? Ever since you had that meeting with Bolton you've been weird. Did he say something?"
"Oh! No, no he didn't say anything bad. He actually wants me to take over for Glenda temporarily, pay rise and all. He's aware I've lost interest in the job so he knows I probably won't be there for long."
"Well that's all good news, so what exactly are you thinking about that has you daydreaming?" I sigh heavily and put the menu down but the waitress walks back over to us to take our order. I pick something quickly whilst Jade is placing her order. At this point I don't know if I'll be able to eat anyway as I am just too nervous. As soon as the waitress leaves Jade returns her attention to me waiting patiently.
