Sky's POV
It was as if a bucket of ice cold water had just been dumped on me. The mere mention of his name did that to you. He was the devil incarnate. To have done what he did to me, to others as well. It was sickening.
"Sorry did you just say Domien?" I ask just to confirm I had heard him right.
She nods at me. "Yeah, why? Do you know him?"
I don't deny or confirm so I ask a question instead. "Have you got a picture of him somewhere?" She nods and picks up her phone and starts her search. I look at Simon who's face is expressionless. I reach for his hand and ask him if he's ok.
"Babe, honestly? I'm meant to be askng if you're OK? I can just about hear this, are you sure that you're OK with this?"
"Positive babe." I smile and squeeze his hand reassuringly.
"Here he is." Ellie hands me her phone and Si and I look at the picture before we stare back and forth at each other. You know that saying 'It's a small world.'? Well fuck me if this is the case it's a ring sized box.
"Still positive babe?" Simon asks me and I look up at him.
"Even more so."
"OK, what am I missing?" Ellie asks looking very confused and in need of answers.
I turn to face her fully and take a deep breath. "I don't know how to say this exactly. It's just very weird how we are all connected through this asshole."
"Wh- What do you mean?"
"Domien is my ex Ellie." She pales and her mouth drops open. Her hands fly up to her mouth as she asks with a muffled voiced.
"What? When? How?"
"I'm thinking around the same time he was sleeping with you. Listening to you and linking in the timeline with your story, he was with us both at the same time."
"Oh my God... I mean I had an incline."
"I knew he was snooping around, I just couldn't prove it. He would disappear for a day or two and tell me it was all work. Some days he would come back and I'd smell the perfume on him. Once I found hickies on him and asked him about it. He hit me because I accused him of cheating."
"Well I never gave him hickies."
"Meh, clearly another woman then. I wouldn't put it past him now knowing he had us both on the go at the same time."
"So how did you eventually break up with him?"
"A couple of years ago when I ended up in hospital, it was one nurse who noticed and banned him from coming in. I managed to get discharged and sneaked out in the middle of the night and just left. I didn't even go back to my apartment in fear he'd be there. I had been running ever since until Si convinced me to get self defense classes, so this time when he came to attack me, I was ready. Obviously he's in prison and he may get charged but it needs to be dealt with properly."
"I'll do anything to protect Summer." She spoke up quickly. We sit and talk for about 2 hours building a case against Domien. She also decided that both her and Summer would attend some self defense classes and maybe karate for Summer. We decided to meet up at some point during the week and then they can accompany me to the gym to meet Chris.
We say goodbye to Ellie and I follow her out. "Thank you so much Sky, I can't thank you enough for this."
"It's no problem at all. Tell Summer I said hi." She nods and leaves and I make my way back inside to meet Simon. He's in the kitchen leaned against the counter as I walk back in.
