Skylar
It has been an amazing week in Barbados with us snorkeling, swimming with turtles, nature trails and a catamaran cruise. Simon suffered sunburn the first 2 days but as soon as I was able to find him some natural Aloe Vera plant and rub it on his back and chest he was as good as new for the remaining trip.
It was our last night on the island and we were headed out to dinner at our favourite restaurant here. We have managed to make some friends with the locals and promised that we would venture back soon. Simon was dressed in a casual khaki green t-shirt and white shorts whilst I had donned a fitted khaki green dress with tan coloured sandals. It wasn't planned for us to be matching but here we were.
Hand in hand we left the hotel and walked along the busy strip to our reservation at the hotel. On our way we said a few hellos to the vendors we got to know during our week.
Walking into the restaurant that also had a beach front view and a great setting, we were ushered over to our seats. "Mr and Mrs Carver, welcome again. Right this way please." Ever since we arrived to the island we have been greeted as a married couple. I didn't even try to correct them. Truth be told I quite liked the sound of it. Whilst on the island we even witnessed a beach wedding and as a woman we always seem to get caught up in the romantic side of things. Simon however, he was mesmerised by the whole thing. He kept a hold of my hand and kept playing with my ring finger throughout the time we saw the wedding at the beach and even after we got back to the hotel room. I'm pretty sure that I heard him call me Mrs. Carver too, it could have been a dream, who knows.
We reminisced about our week and even started planning our next holiday which would also included Jade and Elliot. We even spoke about when Simon was finally going to meet with Bolton how he would handle it with either outcome.
As we left the restaurant to head back to the hotel, I noticed that Simon was quiet. Too quiet, especially since these walks back to the hotel are normally filled with us chatting away. "You OK babe? You're very quiet."
"Huh? Ermm am I?"
"Yes, what's on your mind?" He takes a deep breath.
"Just, gonna miss this place. It has been such a good week." He pulls me further into him as we walk up to the hotel entrance. I know that's not fully truth but given what he found out a couple of days ago about his dad, I won't hold it against him. When we enter the lobby he excuses himself quickly to speak to the gentleman at the reception desk. Whilst he does so I reply to a message I received from my parents with the biggest grin on my face.
Simon comes over after a couple of minutes and guides us upstairs. The nearer we get to the room, the more he seems to fidget. I really wish he would just tell me what the hell is on his mind already. I decide that I'll tackle him properly when we are in the privacy of our room.
Simon had given me the key to our room earlier as I had a little bag. That was his excuse normally he would just use his trousers pocket. I just went along with it. Now I was digging out said key from my handbag to unlock our door. Ass soon as the door opens and we step in I notice a dim light coming from the bedroom. "I thought we turned off the bedroom lights before we left." I say to no one in particular but Simon follows me anyway as I make my way towards the room.
What I saw took my breath away. Heart shaped helium balloons with rose petals scattered all over the bed. As I got closer, I realised that the rose petals spelt out 'I Love You'. " Aww babe when did you get this done? It's beauti" I turn expecting to see Simon standing in front of me. However he now seemed to be only 3 feet tall as he was now bent on one knee.
"Oh My God!" My hands automatically went to my mouth, dropping my handbag as a reflex.
"Sky, from the moment we literally bumped into each other, I couldn't stop thinking about you. You invaded my thoughts, dreams and everyday life. I love every thing about you. You are a strong determined woman who gives love, although it was in short supply to her before and it hasn't stopped you from giving that love. I want to be the one who puts that smile on your face permanently and I want to do it waking up to you everyday for the rest of our lives. Would you do me the honour by becoming my wife?"
