Y/n and Nick rushed to their dad's room as they saw an array of bottles all over the floor and am oversized wardrobe that was open.
"Dad?" Y/n asked with a worrying tone as Nick tried to analyze the situation.
"We need to take him to the medical hut right now." Nick said in a serious tone before quickly rushing to grab something warm for their dad to wear.
"Okay-" Y/n said in a shaky voice as she picked up the small bottles off of the floor. "Nick these- these are potions?" she said as Nick put the heavy oversized coat on his father.
"We can worry about those later Y/n just get the horses ready we need to go now." Nick said in a stern tone as he started to pack up some necessities for the journey. The medical hut that they needed to go to was about a mile away which was really lucky for Y/n and Nick since some families needed to travel up to 10 miles just to get to a decent medical hut.
Nick was able to pick up his dad and put him on the horse as they started their journey, they needed to hurry because they didn't know what happened to him and the sun was going to set in about 30 minutes. The temperature dropping rapidly as they made it out of their long driveway.
"We'll need to keep him here for a little while to try and figure it out." The nurse said after Y/n explained what happened for the third time. "He'll be fine in our care, you guys can come visit whenever you want, if that makes you feel better." She said as she scribbled down something on her small beat up notepad before sticking the notepad back into her apron pocket.
"We need you to keep him here until we come back." Y/n said playing with her fingers as she told the nurse who only could shoot Y/n a confused look.
"Nick and I are being sent to the city to help the embassy." Y/n said as the nurse's confused face turned to a sad one. Y/n could tell that the nurse took interest in Nick, since she couldn't stop smiling at him and would keep flirting with him. Nick on the other hand showed no interest at all and was completely oblivious and thought she was just being nice. All you could do was worry for your father at the moment. Don't worry dad we'll be back, don't worry about us. You thought as you drew soft circles on his hand.
"Hey Nick we should get going, we have to pack tomorrow and get going to the city." You said trying to pry the nurse off of Nick as he quickly responded.
"Yup! Thanks again." The nurse just gave him a small frown as Y/n and Nick headed out the door. The cold, thin air hit them both like a wall as the sun was just setting a soft pink glow still evident in the sky. The two jumped on their horses and rode as quick as possible back home trying to spend as little amount of time in the cold air as possible.
When Nick and Y/n finally got home, Y/n took care of the horses while Nick made dinner for the two of them.
"C'mon Y/n can't I just do the horses? Pleaaassseeee?" Nick asked knowing that taking care of the horses was the much easier task.
"Nick you know how bad I am at cooking, I mean you need to be good at something." She said as a joke trying to keep a serious face, but soon burst out into fits of laughter.
"Whatever. You're so unbelievably rude." Nick said with a scoff and an eyeroll before snatching the small bag of supplies from Y/n's hand and taking it into the small house.
Y/n grabbed the reigns of the two horses and led them into the warm barn, and fed them before putting on a thick coat for the horses knowing how cold they were for having to stay out in the cold windy weather for almost an hour. She then moved onto feeding the other animals and looked through one of the small sheds connected to the outside of the barn for an automatic feeder for all of the animals.
She would feed them before leaving tomorrow, which hopefully won't be the last time she see's them all. As per usual she fed the pigs last.
"You guys were so lucky ya'll didn't get slaughtered today." she said with a frown as she gave them some food before walking to the doors to the barn and having to forcefully close it, due to the hinges getting somewhat frozen before locking it.
"What's for dinner eh Nick?" Y/n said with a slight mocking tone.
"Well I was going to have beef stew, but for you-" he said as he stirred the pot with a wonderful aroma wafting through the air before continuing "you can have rocks."
"Well too bad for you, I'm eating what you're eating and you also didn't have to deal with the smelly pigs." Y/n said as she grabbed some ceramic bowls out of one of the taller cabinets.
"I don't disagree with you about their stench, but they can be cute sometimes?" Nick said as he turned off the burner to the stove.
"Yea right, stop blabbing and let me serve the stew I'm starving." Y/n said as nick put his hands up in defeat letting her serve their dinner. He didn't want to get in the way of her when she was hungry, since she would always get very short tempered.
"Geez, excuse you." Nick said in a sarcastic voice after Y/n let out a big burp. "I'll take it that you enjoyed the food." he said proudly.
"Yea thanks, also we need to go through all of those things in the wardrobe in dad's room. I could've sworn there was armor in there." Y/n said as she got up to start washing the dishes.
"Ooohh, I think that might be the armor dad told me about. He said it's made of netherite." Nick said with a sparkle in his eye.
"Netherite?"
