Chapter 2: The Choosing Ceremony

          I'm so scared right now; I still have no idea what Faction I'm going to choose it's one of four-Amity, Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless. Still, I can't believe thatIi got Dauntless, I understand the rest of them because of kindness, selflessness, and I'm somewhat smart. Im smart in math like i really like it and im one of the smarter people in the classes.

          Today is the day where we have to choose the faction that you belong in. People of the age of 16 must complete the aptitude test for their result on what faction they belong in. I know that I am selfish, and I don't want to be in erudite, so that leaves me two choices Amity and Dauntless.

          We are on the bus to take us to city hall. This is where the choosing ceremony takes places. This year Marcus Eaton is the one to call out people's names and tells us what faction they choose. It will take forever because it goes by last name, so im one of the few that go last.

"Lily Prior" Marcus Eaton proclaims. 

I look at my mom and she tells me "Whatever you choose I will always love you" 

"Thanks, mom" I take a deep breath, stand up and walk towards the bowls filled with glass, dirt, water, stones, and burning coals. I pick up the knife and cut my palm and place my blood in the...

Burning coals " DAUNTLESS" he shouts. Then I walk over to a candor girl at the dauntless section. Then I look over to my mom and dad. My mom smiles at me and my dad has a disappointing look on his face. I was always a daddy's girl, but now it's my time to make my own choices in life. My brother just choose ERUDITE, now he is going to be like them and hunt divergents now. CHAP.  It's my sisters turn okay maybe she'll stay at home. " DAUNTLESS" nope, okay she'll be safe with me. 

Since the choosing ceremony is over all of the Dauntless are now heading towards the trains. " "Come on Bea, it coming." 

"Okay Lily"

I jumped on to the train with Bea, that's my nickname for Beatrice. We're talking to a candor, her name is Christian.

" TIME TO JUMP" screams some dauntless boy 

"What we just jumped on a moving train, now they want us to jump" Chris complains.

"Oh come on it not that bad, but we all jump on 3" all I get is two okays.

 " Jump" I tuck in and do a somersault onto the ruff. I scraped my elbow on the rocks. I can't believe i just did that I thought as i laughed out loud.

"LISTEN UP! My name is Eric! And the only way to enter into dauntless it through here!" 

"Is there water at the bottom or something?" asked an erudite.

 "The only way is someone to jump. So who wants to go first?" Says the annoying leader. 

I look at Bea and nod. She nods back, meaning we say me on three. One. Two. Three.

 "Me" we say together. 

"Only one at a time, so who's the older one." 

" Me" I stated 

" Then you go first" 

"okay" so I walk up to the ledge and take off my jacket then some idiot shouted 

" YEAH STIFF, take it off!..... Put it back on" So I flipped him off. Took a breath and jumped of the roof. Then I hit a net. "Hahahah" The one person i didn't expect to put me off was

 "Toby?" I say in a whispered so nobody could hear 

"Lils, never mind. what your name, if its a hard one you can choose a new one" 

"Lily, my is lily" 

" FIRST- JUMPER LILY! Welcome to dauntless! Lils meet me at the chasm at 7 ok" Toby whispers the last part.

The other girl Lauren spoke up after everyone came down " The Dauntless-born are with me, I assume you don't need a tour of the place. Transfers stay with Four." Then leads them out of the box like room. Toby or should I say "Four" is afraid of tight spaces because of his "father".

Once they leave the room Toby starts speaking about himself to us " Most of the time i work in the control room, but for the next few weeks, I am your instructor", he says " My name is Four."

Chris asks "Four? Like the number."

"Yes, " Toby replies with some of his no emotional voice , which I think is sexy. "Is there a problem?"
"No"
"Good. We're about to go into the Pit, which you will learn to love someday. It—"

Chris snickers " The pit? Clever name."

Oh no bad move chris. Toby is going to scare the crap out of her. Oh no He's walking. Please don't do it tob please i thought in my head

"what's your name?" With no emotion 

"Christian"

"Well Christian, if I wanted to deal with you smart-mouthed candor. I would have join their Faction. The first lesson you learn from me, is to keep your mouth shut! GOT IT" Toby is the best trainer because he got first in his training. You're probably wondering how I know, it's because he contacted me when he got out of training. We started to write letters back and forth between the factions. I had to get the mail everyday because my dad would disapprove of me writing to him. I love him to death but sometimes he can get out of control.
