A 'Warm' Hello

As I finished my shift at the local coffee shop, Little Coffee House it was called. I just made food there. I didn't like to talk. I haven't for 7 years now. Ever since I was thirteen I haven't spoken a word. Even when I was alone I didn't speak. I had no idea what I sound like.

I was walking back to my apartment I was listening to Billie Eilish, Bury a friend. I mouthed to the lyrics, I didn't say anything though.

I unlocked my door, and walked into my apartment, ignoring the sign that said soon, to be evicted. I didn't care, I was about to set down on my couch but the man with the eye patch was already sitting there.

"Hello." He said "My name is Nick Fury, You can call me Fury."

I stared at him ready to attack. I look him dead in the eyes. Eye.

"I know you don't talk, you haven't for seven years, I don't plan on breaking your record." He said as he stood up. "Your name is Ava. Ava Stone. You were trained in the Red Room."

Red Room. Those words made me clench my teeth and form my fist. I didn't move. I just stared at him my eyebrows furrowed.

"Anyways, I have come to recruit you as an Avenger." He gave me a file with my name on it. "We have been studying you for the last two months. You are hard to find."

I glance down at the file. I don't let my guard down I reach for the file and open it. It had pictures of me, working, cooking food, doing my day to day business, sleeping. When I found the picture of me sleeping. I give him a look.

"I didn't take the pictures." He says trying to make me feel better. I don't feel any better.

I grab out a notebook. This is how I talk. I find a blank page. I jot down; why have you been stalking me.

He reads it. "We need you as an Avenger. You have great skills and you could need a place to stay." I knew the last bit he was talking about the evicted sign.

I gulped. I looked at the files, it had almost everything about me. My family, the Red Room, my escape. I remembered the memories the pain. I pushed them out.

"Pack a bag, we're leaving in an hour." He says going to my kitchen. he grabs a bagel. "I'm taking you to the Avengers Tower."

I thought about the offer. I didn't want to take it. I hurt people. I was living alone in Queens, as a 20 year old with no friends. I work at an okay place with a crappy pay check and I'm barely living. I thought about the Avengers, Tony Stark,  Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, Scott Lang, Vision, Wanda Maximoff, everyone. I remember how one of them trained me, in the Red Room. Her name was Natasha Romanoff. She is an Avenger, and a damn good one. She was an assassin, like me, she trained me to kill, to hunt. She turned out okay. I mean yeah she a little messed up, but aren't we all.

I looked around my apartment, the crappy kitchen, the uncomfortable living room, the bedroom which just sucked. I could always just ditch the Avengers and runaway again, right?

" I said pack your bags, come on you've been standing there for 5 minutes." Fury said knocking me back into reality.

I nodded and walked to my room. I didn't have any suitcases, just a bag. I began shoving random stuff in there. Not like I had a lot. I was just finishing up when My soulmate started to play some music, I heard this song a few times, It was called Pork Soda, by Glass animals. It was a weird song, but it had a nice beat.

I've never met my soulmate. If I'm being honest, I really don't want to ever met him. I would probably kill him, just like how I've killed everyone I've known. I finished packing everything, I decided to change, I smelled like coffee and pancakes, which wasn't that bad, but I didn't want to met the Avengers dressed like this. I change into some sweat pant, a white top and a black hoodie. I don't like showing my skin, even at work I don't show much. I came out and Fury has finished eating his bagel.
