After much convincing, Angela, much to Micah's shock, had managed to sway him into skipping school.
While he would drop her off, he would not be spending the day there. With a hug goodbye and a promise to call later, Micah found himself driving towards the Reservation.
As he parked the car, Micah made no move to get out. Instead he blasted the heaters and leaned back in his seat watching the waves crash over each other.
If it wasn't such a cold day, Micah would have found himself stripping and taking a dive off the cliffs. But as it where, it was below freezing.
Sam Uley, who had just finished patrol, walked out of the woods next to the beach and spotted a familiar figure sitting in a car.
Walking over, he rapped his knuckles against the glass causing Micah to jump in his seat with a small yelp.
"Sam!" Micah exclaimed, shocked. Sam smiled and nodded at the boy. Micah shut off the engine and climbed out of the car, "Long time, no see hey?"
Sam chuckled and pulled the younger boy in for a bone crushing hug. "It's good to see you again, Micah."
Micah smiled, "It's good to see you too, Sammy."
Sam groaned, pulling back out of the hug, "I hate that name."
Micah smiled cheekily, "I know."
Sam nodded towards the beach, "Walk with me?"
Micah bit his lip as he contemplated whether he should go or not. He wanted too, for he hadn't seen Sam in years. Sam was one of the only ones that stayed by his side though the hole Jacob charade.
He shrugged, "Sure." Grabbing his jacket, he pulled it tightly around his thin frame and walked next to Sam as the pair walked across the stony ground.
Micah didn't bother locking his car doors because the reservation was one of the safes places here.
"Are you ok?" Sam asked after a few moments of silence.
Micah bit his lip, "I'm better than I have been. I have Angela to thank for that." He paused, "And the Cullens. They have helped too."
Sam raised his brows as the short male, "The Cullens?"
Micah nodded his head, "Yeah." He mumbled, "They moved to town about 2 years ago I think. I'm not a hundred percent sure, I wasn't really listening when Jess explained, and I haven't asked them."
Sam nodded, he knew exactly who the Cullens where. The elders had told him everything, including the treaty the wolfs and vampires had. They where not to come onto or hunt on the reservation, nor where they allowed to change anyone.
"And, Your happy?" Sam enquired.
Micah couldn't stop the smile on his face, "For the first time, in a long time. Yeah, I'm really happy."
Sam smiled, wrapping his arm around Micah's shoulder, "Good."
"What about you." He asked.
"I like someone, but she doesn't exactly like me back." Sam said.
Micah smiled, "Give it time, I'm sure it will work out eventually. Just don't come across as needy. It's not attractive."
Sam chuckled, "Got it," suddenly his mood turned somber, "No, I'm sorry I can't."
Micah frown, "Can't what?" He asked softly.
"The elders are going to kill me." He mumbled as he rubbed his eye tiredly, "But I have to tell you. Your getting close to them and I don't want you to get hurt."
Sam stopped, stopping Micah with him. Placing his hands firmly on Micah's shoulders, he looked him dead in the eye, "The Cullens are vampires."
Micah was quiet for a moment before he snorted, that turned into full belly laughter, "Yeah, and I'm the abominable snowman."
"I'm serious, Micah!" Sam snapped, "You need to be careful around them."
Micah scoffed, slapping Sam's hands away from him, "What is your problem. They are my friends, why are you saying shit like this for."
If there was one thing anyone could say about Micah it was that while he lacked the ability to stand up for himself, he made up for how he would stand up for his friends.
"Because it's the truth, Micah. I know it sounds like I'm crazy, but it's the truth!"
Micah scoffed, taking a step back, "You need to stay away from me." Still facing Sam, Micah began walking back towards his car.
"Micah, please." Sam begged. He just needed him to listen. Micah could be in danger, he needed to know the hole picture if he wanted to stay friends with them.
"No." Micah said firmly. "You are insane. Things like that do not exist."
"Don't exist?" Sam scoffed, "If they don't exist, then explain this!" Micah watched curiously as Sams body began shaking like a loose leaf in the wind.
Micah let out a scream as Sam body exploded into a big ball of fluff and instantly recognised the black wolf from the forest.
"It was you?" Micah gasped. His heart was pounding a mile a minute, his breathing shallow.
Sam, the wolf, ears laid flat against his head, small whimpers leaving his snout as he got onto his belly and shuffled forward.
Micah let out a small laugh before his eyes rolled into the back of his head, his body hitting the ground with a loud thump.
Sam panicked and quickly ran into the woods, shifting back and pulling on a pair of shorts as he ran back towards the boy.
Scooping him up in his arms, Sam ran towards Micah's car and placed him in the back before driving towards his own house.
Hazardously parking the car, Sam hopped out, picked Micah up and carried him inside, laying him down on the sofa.
Running towards the kitchen, he grabbed a cloth and ran it under the water. Walking over, he placed the damp cloth on Micah's head and began pacing the room.
What was he going to do? What was he thinking, springing something like this on him with no warning! The elders where going to kill him. He should never have shifted.
"What?" Micah groaned, "Where am I?"
