Chapter Eight: Skills, Surprise Visit, & Savory Dreams
"Okay and up! Hold it, now dismount and be careful," I instruct the girls. They finally manage a decent dismount and then we go on to work on the cartwheels. Some of the girls don't do it properly and end up flailing about, nearly hitting each other. I demonstrate the proper cartwheel and the senior cheerleaders pair off with a cheerleader that needs work and they work on their cartwheels, splits and hurleys.
"So this is the new lot?" J.J. asks as he walks over to us. I nod to him as I keep an eye on my girls. "Well, look at the ripe girls you have here."
"They aren't fruit, J.J. and shouldn't you be showing your boys how to do it right?" I ask him, not looking away from the girls.
"Well, would you like to volunteer to help me?" He asks me. I look at him now and I know what he is insinuating, which is different from what I am talking about.
"Girls, keep it up and I expect to see some progress when I get back. Analise, you take over," I bark orders and Analise takes my spot as I walk past J.J., who has a shocked look on his face. I walk over to a deserted football and pick it up making a show of it for J.J.'s benefit. I can almost hear him gulp.
Now, I am not big on football and I don't know any plays but I learned one thing from Conner and that was how to make a decent throw. My brother likes to joke that I throw like a guy but no one at school really knows this about me.
"Addams," I call out to Pierce Addams, a junior, and he looks to me. I nod and he moves towards me but I shake my head. "Go long," I say as I fit the ball in my hands to prepare for a throw. I pull my arm back and throw it just how Conner taught me. It leaves my hand and spins through the air. Pierce runs for the ball and has to jump to catch it in time.
The rest of the guys just stare at me in awe and I decide to put on my act.
"Is that good? Did I do a good job?" I ask as I jump up and down and start to play up my cheerleading skills. I do a couple of high kicks and toss my ponytail about in excitement. I know I am overdoing it but that is the point of being blond, in my case.
"Well, that is something you don't see everyday." I turn my attention to Cross.
"How long have you been there?" I ask.
"He is on the team, sort of. Didn't you know that?" asks J.J.
"I didn't tell her," Cross says without taking his eyes off of me. "Who knew a cheerleader could have a mean arm like that? Maybe you should join the team."
"And run around with stinky, tough boys? If I want to play rough, I do it in the bedroom," I tell him as I walk up to him. He is stunned by my words and I watch his Adam's apple bob up and down as he swallows. I smile at that and then I return to my girls.

Cross POV:
I can't believe she goes from being a beast with a football to a total blond to a seductress all in ten minutes.
"What is her deal?" I ask J.J.
"Know one knows, except her best friend," he tells me. I look at him.
"Analise?" I ask. He shakes his head.
"Weirdly enough, her best friend is this guy named Gavin Bradley. He is a cool guy but I doubt you would get anything about Lexa out of him. He is devoted to her. They were neighbors while they were in diapers then her parents got a bigger house and moved. They are as close as siblings, those two. He is really protective of her when she lets him." I nod at the influx of information coming from my new friend. Maybe this Gavin will tell me a little bit about his best friend.
