Chapter Eighteen: Avoidance and Blossoming Friendship?
Gavin has been acting weird for the past few weeks. It's now nearing Halloween and I'm excited to be rid of my sling. My shoulder still hurt from time to time and I will have a scar to remind me of that horrible night but other than that, I'm alright. Gavin has been avoiding me since I got the sling removed and I don't know why. I haven't heard from Justin but I know that through the grapevine that he had another 'conversation' with Gavin. I'm starting to wonder what he is hiding from me.
"Hello, is anyone home," asks Les as he smiles at me. We are at lunch and the girls are talking about their costumes for the Halloween party. I am not sure what I want to dress up as but Les promised to go as my pair. I am not sure what he thinks is going to happen between us but I am still not fully ready to be in a relationship. I haven't known him long enough to trust him, not like I know Gavin.
"I was think something less bright and perky for this year," I tell the girls and they all nod in agreement. One year I went as a nun and last year I went as Little Miss Muffet and I looked cute.
"Oh, I've got it! How about a sexy kitten? Or better yet, a sexy maid," suggests Sasha. I smile but shake my head.
"How about a sexy witch," suggests Portia.
"Or a pirate," says Myla Brando, as she eyes everyone in the cafeteria. She has itchy fingers and likes to steal.
"Maybe you should be a pirate, Myla," I say and the girls agree.
"I think I will be a dark angel," I tell them as I check my phone for any texts from my best friend. I haven't received anything from him.
"I could go as a devil. I have this kickin' red tux that I found in my dad's closet," says Lex from beside me. I am looking at my phone for sexy angel costumes for men. I come up with a sexy buff man who is in nothing but a pair of large angel wings and a piece of white cloth covering his groin. I nearly drool at the sight.
"Are you sure you don't want to go like this," I ask, showing him the picture. He looks at it and then grimaces at it.
"I wouldn't be caught dead wearing something that lame. That just screams homo," he tells me and looks away. I sigh and set it as my background picture on my phone. It wouldn't be the same without Gavin at the party to dress up with. We were both huge fans of Halloween and always spent it together. Not this year, I guess.
"What is the matter," Analise asks me. I tell her how Gavin has been ignoring me ever since his talk with Justin. She asks me to send her the picture of the sexy guy and says that she will handle my problem with Gavin. I don't know how she plans on doing that.
"Why did you want that picture again," I ask her as I hit send.
"I was just going to see if my new man would be manly enough to go like that with me. We could both be angels," she tells me and then gets up and walks off. I don't see her for the rest of the day.

I arrive home and see Marco sitting on the front steps.
"Are you okay Marco," I ask him and he looks up at me with teary eyes. I motion for him to follow me inside. I greet the maid and then escort Marco into the sitting room. I had order the couches cleaned, thoroughly.
"Haylee broke up with me," is what he starts off with. At least, he doesn't beat around the bush.
"I'm so sorry to hear that," I tell him. He lunges at me and holds onto me until he cries it out. Marco is the sensitive one. It's something I always avoided bringing up because I didn't like it. I am not one to delve in emotional tidal waves and Marco is a vast ocean of emotion. I'm his friend as much as Conner is but Conner handles this, normally, while I cover the girl advice.
