Chapter Fourteen: Who's Ready To Party?

Les makes good on his promise and picks me up at seven sharp to go to the party. I leave the wrap on but opt for some cute wedges to go along with a simple, flowy, sea-green dress. I had informed my brother and parents where I would be and who I would be with and I had even given Conner Les's cell number, just in case he couldn't get ahold of me.

I walk out, or limp, to his car and I get in. I'm not sure who's house the party is going to be at but I do know that if J.J. is going to be there then it will be a real party. We drive for about thirty minutes and come to a house that is brightly lit and has teenagers littered all around. Les rushes around to help me out of the car and I am grateful for the assistance.

We walk into the already packed residence and Les excuses himself when he sees Sterling and Damian, both of which I am still not on good terms with. I walk around and greet people I know and make small talk. I don't know where Les got himself to but I am enjoying mingling with my friends. I smile and laugh and tell jokes that are lame beyond believe. I say high to Devlin and Zane and their cousins, Helena and Henry, who is still super shy around me. So cute.

I am still mingling when I see them walk in. I don't want to talk to neither Asher nor Cross and they haven't talked to me. J.J. had told me that Cross was asking about me at practice and he had informed him on my condition. Cross was worried that I would hurt him if he tried to talk to me and I could understand that reasoning completely but Asher is another subject all together. I just want to punch him in the face and I'm not too sure why. Maybe the medicine I'm on is messing with my emotions.

I walk around looking for the kitchen in the large building. I finally find it and grab myself a soda. I can't really drink with the medicine they have me on. I wander up the kitchen stairs and look around the house. I have never been to this place before and my curious mind won't refrain from urging my feet to wander. I'm so sure I was allowed to be wandering about but my curiosity can't care less for measly rules.

I hear someone coming and I rush into the nearest room. It is dimly lit and super quiet. I walk around and notice the balcony. I walk out and admire the stars.

"Hello?" I hear from behind me and I turn to find Gina peeking into the room. I come back inside and she frowns at me. "What are you doing in here, Frost?" she asks.

"Just admiring the view from this wonderful room," I tell her as I glance at the now closed doors.

"Oh, well this is my room," she tells me. I am shocked because I had never been to her house before and didn't know what kind of circumstances she lived under. "Don't seem so shocked." She seemed upset.

"Oh, no, it's not that. I just never even thought of where you lived. But I also didn't think we would have the same tastes," I say as I look around at her lavender decorated room. I admire the posters of several of my own favorite bands like, Maroon 5, The All- American Rejects, Paramore, and My Chemical Romance.

"Yeah, we could've been friends had you given me the chance," she tells me, while fingering the drawer next to her leg.

"I was sure how to react when I found out about what you were doing. I just knew that it would affect my family and I couldn't let that happen. I'm sure you would've done the same," I tell her. She nods, not looking up at me. I sigh. I wish things had been different. I don't really like having mortal enemies. My phone rings and I pull it out of my bra. I stand and walk out onto the balcony. I answer the unknown number.

"Miss Alexa Frost?" says the man on the other end of the line.

"This is she," I respond.

"This is Officer Hart. We have some news," he tells me.
