A/N: this short chapter is in Meti's POV and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do! This book is ending soon, but I have some completed ones in my drafts that are being released soon!!!

Meti's POV

I did my best and finally freed me and Caleb from our restraints. I tried to grab his hand and lead him out of here but he shook his head and told me something that I couldn't fully understand.

"They're coming for us so we have to stay put. If we leave this room and someone from this crazy place finds us, we'll cause more trouble and they're trying to be stealthy." He told me quietly but all I could really understand was the words stay put.

I didn't get why we had to stay still but I just nodded my head and decided it was for the best to not try to argue with him. He must have a good reason for us to stay in this ugly cellar so I'll think this through and follow his judgement, but just because I had to stay in here didn't mean I couldn't rig the room!

I rubbed my wrists and they stung from being restrained for so many days. Within those days, I've pulled and tugged on my cuffs so much I thought I was going to cut off my circulation.

Suddenly a loud bang pulled me out of my thoughts and Caleb stood in front of me guarding me from the door. We haven't ate in days but he still found the strength and will to want to protect me.

I used to think he hated us since we were a different species from his kind but I think he slowly started to like us? Or maybe at least come to accept us.

During this whole chaotic kidnapping situation, he's shown that he likes me enough to protect me. He's stopped me from getting hit by them, and even now, we both don't know what that bang meant but he quickly rushed in front of me to shield me from whatever danger lurked behind the door.

I smiled and peaked from over his shoulders since I was taller than him and both of our eyes were glued to the door.

After the bang, silence followed but we didn't move our eyes away for even one second. In cases like this, you never let your guard down because you never know what would happen.

If it was someone on the enemy's side, we'd be screwed. There wasn't anywhere to hide here since it wasn't furnished and was more like a cold holding cell .

After a few more seconds of silence, Caleb turned around and led me back to the spots we usually were in here. He pretended for our cuffs to be on and we just sat back on the floor, facing the door anxiously.

Then we heard the bang again, this time it sounded even closer than before. I looked over at Caleb and his face paled but I couldn't figure out why his sudden change in mood came. It didn't look like he was concerned about the mysterious banging, so some wolf thing must've happened.

"I can't smell Kyle anymore." He mumbled as tears began to flow down his redden cheeks. I looked over at him sadly and nudged him with my elbow to try to comfort him.

I didn't like when he was sad or crying. I always wanted him to smile and laugh, but he doesn't do that much either, but I'll make him smile and laugh one day. As soon as we get out of here and in the future we might look back at this and laugh!

"It'll be okay, don't cry." I told him and even with the language barrier I think he understood what I said. He shook his head and nodded to me before putting on another serious face.

I was also starting to worry about Kyle. Ever since he was taken away a few days ago, I've been restless. He sacrificed himself for us and I couldn't repay him enough for doing that. I didn't want him to do it, if anything I would've gladly taken the role to save him and Caleb, but he was stubborn and decided to do it instead.

He was loud and always smiling, loving, and caring so if any of those people outside did something to him, I'd hurt them and wish them a thousand deaths. He also was the reason Caleb decided to give us a chance, that alone made him a good guy in my book.

A third bang went off and this time I heard it come from directly behind the cellar door. The closeness of it made my breathing almost stop and my heart pound endlessly.

Whoever it was, I just hoped they were on our side and not the enemy. Caleb shifted in his spot and I saw the serious look on his face.

We were both super determined to save Kyle and high tail it out of here but before that, I had a little plan of my own.

Then suddenly someone kicked down the door...
