I didn't stop stomping until I had reached the car and couldn't stomp anymore. I unlocked the car door with my keys and pulled the door open and sat down in the seat. Tyler also climbed into the back and sat down in the middle seat. He then shut the door behind him, and I was out of there.

It was silent for a little while. Then Tyler spoke up,"what was that about?"

I sighed,"it was nothing. Just don't worry about it.

Tyler turned back to the window.

I sighed again and continued to drive. Then a thought occurred to me.

"Tyler, why did you punch that kid at recess today?" I asked him, looking at him through the mirror above me.

Tyler continued to stare through the window.

I groaned. But then I had an idea. If anything ever worked on my little devil fourth grade brother, it was making deals.

"I'll tell you what happened with principal Bethholm if you tell me why you punched that kid at recess," I suggested to him.

Tyler turned to face the front,"fine, but you have to go first."

Figures.

"Fine. I was mad because principal Bethholm suggested sending you to military school," I blurted.

Tyler was quiet while he pondered this. Then he spoke,"why do you care?"

"What do you mean?" I ask him.

"Why do you care if I get shipped off to military school, I mean, it's not like I've ever done anything for you," he asked.

I pulled the car off the road and put it in park mode. Then I turned around to face Tyler.

"Tyler, you are my brother, not a guy at school who I make bets with. I love you unconditionally, and I don't believe that you are troubled and need to go to some school where they whip you until you learn how to walk like a soldier in the army." I explained to him.

Tyler smiled,"thanks Cindy. It's nice to know I have at least one person who understands me."

I smiled in the review mirror,"I'm always here for you Tyler," I started to back up on to the road again,"speaking of, last I remembered, we had a deal?"

Tyler turned back to the window and sighed," I punched him because he was being annoying."

I scoffed. After what just happened, he would have to have a brain the size of a pea to think he would get away with that.

"Tyler...." I pushed him.

"Fine! He was making fun of me," Tyler told me exasperatingly.

"Who was making fun of you?"

"Carlos Regolden," he muttered.

"What was he making fun of you for," I pushed even further.

"Nothing important,Ok?" he sighed and turned back to the window.

I took a deep breath in and let the air flow back out slowly. Tyler may have opened up to one deal, but as a boy, I knew that he would only open up just a little bit. I knew from having brothers for so long, you have to wait a little bit, then crack them open like coconut.

Finally, I pulled into our driveway and parked my car in the garage. In silence Tyler opened the car door, pulled out his backpack from the trunk and marched into the house without another word.

I sighed for the millionth time today and opened the car door myself and grabbed my keys and my purse as I closed the car door and walked to the front door. Brothers could be such a pain.
