nineteen - "training camp"

Fanning himself and pushing his hair back, Nico shakes his head at the twins as they're lying on the floor in the hallway, sweating profusely with ice packs on their foreheads.

"I know it's hot, but isn't this taking it a bit far?"

The twins groan unanimously. "No!"

"It's the hottest summer recorded in history!" Jota exclaims.

"I think this is what death feels like." Joji declares and their heads hit the floor in defeat.

Throwing open the door to her small room, Chiyo wipes the sweat from her brow and rubs her forehead. "I can't sleep!"

Nico raises an eyebrow, continuing to fan himself. "You were trying to sleep? Good luck with these two making a racket."

She shakes her head. "I'm not even tired, I just don't know what else to do with myself! It's too hot to even think."

The twins look up from the floor at her and their eyes widen, looking her up and down --she wears a sports bra, loose tank top and denim shorts.

"As if we weren't hot enough!" Joji groans.

Jota cries out. "I think my head might explode!"

Raising her eyebrows, Chiyo nudges Joji with her foot. "I think they really are dead."

The front door opens and Musa and Shindo greet the others. "Hey!"

"Summer break!" Musa exhales.

Shindo nods as they pull their shoes off in the hallway. "Finally time to relax."

Nico scoffs. "If you think Haiji is going to let us relax then you're just as crazy as he is."

"He'd make you run in this heat?" Chiyo questions.

The five look at her, all with the same reluctant looks on their faces. "Of course he would."

The front door slides open again and an out of breath Haiji stands in the doorway with a wide grin on his face. "I have great news!"

"Our air conditioning is working again?!" Jota gaps.

Haiji shakes his head. "It's better than that!"

"You bought ice cream!" Joji questions.

"You found an inflatable pool!" Jota choruses.

Joji grins. "Or maybe we're going to a swimming resort!"

"You're close!" Haiji nods.

Jota raises a finger. "Or maybe--"

"How about you just let him finish what he's saying?" Nico shakes his head.

"We're going on a trip away from the heat!" Haiji tells them and they all gasp.

Shindo raises a finger to his chin. "So the twins were right about a resort?"

Walking out of his room, Yuki furrows his eyebrows at the group. "What's going on here? Did I hear something about escaping the hot weather?"

Haiji nods. "We're going to Lake Shirakaba for a summer training camp!"

Yuki huffs, waving a hand dismissively. "I knew that offer was too good to be true. There goes my last summer at University where I can relax."

"Lake Shirakaba?" Musa asks.

Shindo's eyes widen. "Oh, so the vendor in the shopping district said we could borrow their villa?"

"Villa?" Chiyo raises her eyebrows. "Wow, sounds like you guys are in for a treat staying in a villa."
