I walk into Lone Star and see Leo making cocktails for some customers at the bar. My heart starts to pound again when he gives me a smile. Then something lights up in my mind. Maybe the boy I saw at the Japanese garden in California could have been Leo. It is a far-fetched coincidence, but I decide to ask him one day. After serving the cocktails, he walks over to me.

"I am getting off soon. If you like to dance, can I take you to a fun place tonight?"

I didn't expect a request like this. So I ask him straight forward.

"Is it a date? Are you asking me out?"

He looks at me with a smile.

"Yes, I am officially asking you out to go dancing with me! Would you accept my request, mademoiselle?"

I pretend I need to check my calendar.

"Let me look at my schedule for tonight! Well, I have an important appointment, but I will cancel it for you if you will be a gentleman."

He lifts his hand and pumps his fist.

"Yes! I will be finished in half an hour, so wait for me till then."

After Leo hands me my drink, I scream internally.

I can't believe this! He asked me out! He likes me! Thank you! Thank you, Waheguru!

Half an hour feels like an eternity to me. I keep sipping my drink while sitting on the barstool, pretending to be calm. I can't think straight, and I am in seventh heaven.

As soon as Leo finishes his shift, he wraps his arm around my waist, and we walk out the door. He makes me feel like a real woman. My body feels warm even though the temperature dipped pretty low this evening. In the cab, I ask him where we are going.

"Where are you going to take me tonight? Any clubs?"

He quickly responds.

"No! I wanna take you to someplace you have never been before. Once a week, there is country line dancing happening in Chelsea, so I want to show you how to dance like a Texan."

"I got you a plaid shirt and a cowboy hat to wear. You gonna be a cowgirl this evening. If you can ride a mechanical bull like that, I am sure that you can pick up line dancing easily. What do you think? Will you be my cowgirl?"

I am very content about where he is taking me because I always wanted to try it. I just didn't know where to go. So I tell him.

"Yes, I am your Indian cowgirl tonight! My mother will freak out if she finds out what I am up to. I always wanted to try line dancing, but I didn't have anyone to go with. Ananda and I take Bollywood dance lessons, but there is no way she will come line dancing with me."

The cab drops us off in front of a warehouse. When we walk in, the atmosphere is no longer Manhattan. I feel as if I am in a barn somewhere in the South. There are many people already dancing on the floor. Leo takes my hand and brings me to the center of the floor. He tells me.

"I will show you one of the most popular steps. It is called the Tush Push!"

We stand side by side, and Leo starts.

"You just follow me! Keep checking my steps. Heel, toe, twice with a heel! You repeat heel, toe, heel, heel. Then heel, heel, heel, and clap! Get it? Let's try it again! Heel, toe, twice with a heel! Heel, toe, heel, and heel! Then heel, heel, heel, and clap! Good Anjali! You got it!"
