21. awkward family

*Gravity*

After that...encounter Justice left to get ready for dinner, my parents dropped by as a surprise so we all decided to have a big awkward family dinner.
Fun.
I change into a cute blue dress and a pair of flats, i go out an meet Justice who wears a paor of jeans and a dress shirt.
We go downstairs and i greet mum while completely ignoring dad, Justice greets his parents and Emmy then we make our way to the dining hall, i sit opposite Justice.
Already the atmosphere has become awkward, oh god someone save me, my eyes flick up towards Justice and he winks. Oh god don't blush i tell myself,
'Gravity! How was prom?' Mum asks and i smile,
'It was amazing! We danced and ate, the food was actually alright and no i didn't drink' i say and the parents chuckle...except dad.
We go through the courses and i take a sip of my drink,
'Ah Mrs Enger! I thought i might ask...i'm dating your daughter and...well i wondered if you approved' he asks and i choke a bit.
'Oh my gosh! I didn't want to say but i was kind of hoping you would end up together'
'Mum!' I hiss and she laughs,
'So was i!' Justice's mum squeals and i glare at Justice so he winks. Oh gosh everything is so much more awkward now, i swear i'm going to die from embarrassment.
'How is school going' Dad asks. Mum and Justice stiffen a little, they knew what happened no one else did...
'Fine' i replied curtly then turn to Justice 'we have to finish the project, we have 12 more movies left!' I say and he smiles then nodds and we continue the meal, i look at mum who is deep in thought, 'well this has been a lovely dinner but i have some work to get too!' Dad says brightly and leaves, mum excuses herself and follows him. After dad left the mood got wayyy brighter.
'So honey, how is school going really?' Justice's mum asks and i smile slightly,
'Exhausting, who knew that these things were so hard?' I say and everyone laughs a little.
'Come on! We have those 12 movies to watch!' Justice says so we excuse ourselves and make our way to the cinema, i tell him to go ahead while i get some snacks but i stop when i hear a shout...from my parents room?
My parents room is downstairs so if they have an emergancy meeting they can get there quickly.
I walk towards it and i hear shouting, they argue? I always assumed that they had an easy relationship...did they not?
'You can't do that to your daughter and expect her to forgive you with an apology!' I hear mum shout,
'Why would i want her forgiveness? Did you forget what she did to our son?' Dad shouts back. I inhale sharply, it felt like a physical blow to my stomach.
'She did nothing. It was him! He-' she was stopped by a slap.
'MUM!' I scream and rush into the room to see mum sprawled out on the floor and dad looming over her.
'STOP!' I screech and run to mum  but dad smacks me aside and i rise again to defend mum but he knees me in the stomach and throws me, i gasp as my ribs hit the table.
'I want a divorce!' Mum splutters and the room goes silent.
'What?' Dad hisses slightly baffled.
'I WANT A BLOODY DIVORCE!' Mum shouts rising up.
'No. You will not ge-'
'DO YOU THINK I WILL LET YOU TREAT MY DAUGHTER LIKE THAT? AND ME! WHAT KIND OF MAN SLAPS HIS WIFE!' She shouts and dad stands stunned and mum rushes to me.
'Oh my god baby are you alright?' She asks and i can hear myself talking but it sounds far away.
'Mum...god it hurts. Dad? You're an asshole' i mutter and i hear mum calling Justice and he picks me up while mum calls the police and a divorce lawyer.
Damn this feels familiar, i wasn't drugged this time though, that's a plus! I think i black out but i can't really tell.

*Justice*
I wait for Gravity but she doesn't come, i leave the cinema and begin walking towards the stairs but i hear shouting, i walk towards the noise then i hear my name being called, i sprint into the room to find Gravity curled up by a table with her mum shielding her and her dad standing with a red face and clenched fists, i gather Gravity in my arms and she winces, her mum calls the police and then a divorce lawyer and my heart sinks.
Did he...did her father....
The police arrive and arrest him on sight, i hear an ambulance and paramedics come rushing in and take Gravity, i leave the room to meet my shocked parents.
'What's goin on?' Dad asks and i grit my teeth.
'Her dad. Her dad hurt Gravity' i get out and mum gasps while dad grumbles under hus breath about him being a terrible father. I agree.
A paramedic comes up to me,
'Are you Justice?' She asks and i nod 'Miss Enger has asked for you to accompany her to the hospital' she says and i nodd and follow, I see Gravity on a stretcher and she turns to me,
'Finally! I was so bored' she says and i give a light laugh,
'So you're okay enough to still crack a joke?' I ask and she rolls her eyes,
'Please even if i was on deaths door i would be able to crack a joke' she says and i laugh for real that time, we get to the hospital and she gets examined,
'nearly all her ribs on her right side are bruised and she has a big bruise coming up on her stomach so i advice that you take it easy for a while' she says and she nodds and i pick her up since she refused a wheelchair.
'Well...should i pitch an idea for a new family show? Because people live for this kind of drama' she tells me and i roll my eyes.
'I love how you joke and how you're always optimistic but you need to be serious from time to time' i say and she pouts.
'I know...it's just...it's hard you know? I didn't know that...that dad hated me for what my brother did' she trails of and wipes a stray tear then looks away,
'Hey, I'm here for you sunshine okay?' I tell her and she nodds, i kiss her head and meet her mum at the entrance and she drives us home.
