The Darkness

Chapter 22

So you lay on the bed closest to the window. You look out, it's so peaceful and quiet other then the sound of running water. It seems so out of place, being here. After what all happened. It's a full moon, the trees outside are moving with the wind. Shiro walks out of the bathroom, he's wearing the light blue shirt. He lays next to you. He looks at you, but then he lays down. You lay down as well; you think about Okami and Satoshi. You fall asleep with tears in your eyes.

"You don't dream. You wake up, the sun is rising Shiro and Yuki are both still asleep. Shiro's deer is looking out the window. She walks over to you, and looks at you and tilts her head. She sits, "There is a sadness in your eyes. You miss them don't you? Don't worry they're ok."

You jolt upright. You look around, it's morning. Shiro isn't in the room and Yuki is still sleeping. You look out the window and see people walking and talking and pointing at the building. You assume that it is due to the fact that a bunch of children with animals showed up, and no one knows where you all came from. You stretch a bit to help yourself wake up. Yuki tosses and turns but doesn't wake up. You quietly get up and leave the room and go downstairs. You smell maple syrup as you walk down the stairs, the smell getting stronger as you near the seats and tables where you see Shiro. Shiro waves to you, you go over and sit down. You both talk for a bit about different things like how you both were, what you thought the kitchen was making, if they were going to let you stay again ext... But soon Shiro's expression changes and he seems much more serious. He asks you why you didn't have your animal. Your heart stops, and you just sit there. He apologizes and says that he's been wondering since he saw you walk in. You say it's fine, and you start to tell him what happened. You start to cry midway and Shiro wraps you in his arms, and apologizes for asking. You wipe your tears away and say it's fine. You and Shiro sit in silence until Yuki walks down the stairs and sits next to you. Yuki asks you whats wrong. Both you and Shiro say that it's nothing. Soon some people come out and set up a breakfast bar. The three of you go and get plates. You can't remember the last time you had a decent meal. It was amazing, the pancakes melted in your mouth, And the bacon tasted like hickory heaven. You look around at all of the people nearby. All of these kids with their animals and friends depresses you a bit. You can't help but think back to Okami, Satoshi, and Taka. You miss them, and wonder if any of them are ok- or alive for that matter-. You finish eating and clean up your plate. You tell Shiro and Yuki that you're going to go outside for a bit. They both look at you, Yuki smiles but Shiro looks more worried and sad about it. You look to him and mouth that you'll be fine. As you turn for the door you can see Yuki cleaning up her plate. As you walk outside the sweet aroma of flowers fills your senses, it had a calming sense to it; like you were able to breathe clearly. You look around for a good place to sit and think and to go over what has happened over the past few days.
