"What the Hades?" Apollo said, subconsciously running a hand through his hair.
"That didn't work out." Hyacinthus said truthfully. He turned around, still breathless from the hours of flight they went through to escape Zephyrus. The wind god had flew into the barrier and fell into the sea.
He shielded his eyes from the sun, though his mind was still processing the idea of shielding his eyes from Apollo himself, since he was the literal sun. The island, once a floating piece of land, was now anchored to the ground with the birth of Apollo and Artemis. Golden flowers dotted the hillside, like the color of Apollo's air.
"Wait, my parents!" Hyacinthus yelped, apparently just noticing they existed. "They'll be wondering where I am-"
"Oh yeah-" Apollo said, though he never had the blessing/curse of his parents worrying about him. Well, his mother did, but his father mostly avoided his wife's wrath, by avoiding his illegitimate children.
Hot.
"Um, about that-"
"Oh my gods." Hyacinthus said, walking in circles. "I literally just ran-- flew off with a man my parents don't know about, what would they think of me? I'm still young and innocent?"
"Oh , I'm a god, that's so cute." Apollo whimpered, looking upon the sun that was Hyacinthus.
"What did you say?"
"Oh, nothing."
"We have to go back!" Hyacinthus exclaimed, climbing back on to Apollo's back. "Go!"
"First of all," Apollo said, trying to keep a straight face. He plucked Hyacinthus off his back. "I'm not a public transportation service. Second, Zephyrus is most likely to kill you if you fly off this island."
"Ah."
"Yes, a perfect 'ah' moment." Apollo said.
"What the hell are you doing here?" A woman with dark ebony hair like the midnight sky had stalked up to them, a silvery bow at her side. Her skin was fairer than Apollo's, her eyes cat-like and alert. The moon crest on her forehead- Artemis.
"Mortals aren't allowed here."
"Artemis, little sister-"
"For the last time, I am not your little sister." Artemis sighed, putting a hand to her forehead.
"Who is he?" she said, putting her attention back to Hyacinthus, who was wondering if he should abandon it all and risk it for Zephyrus.
"Um- hi-?" he stuttered.
"He- He's my Hyacinthus." Apollo said. Then he realized his mistake. "I mean- he's not mine, he's the prince of Sparta-"
Artemis raised a perfectly curved brow, hands on her hips. "Brother, is this another one of your consorts?"
Another one? Oh, great, more wood to fuel his upcoming insecurity. Hyacinthus turned to Apollo, looking to see his reaction.
