After everything that had happened,
after all they had been through, he had moved al of his clothing out of the house they had began to share together.

Meredith stood there in front of the closet, she once hoped only to ever fill her clothing, one that she had slowly began to see transform as more of his clothing filled it, a thought that once terrified her, yet in that same instance of watching how hollow her closet once again was, she realized how much she truly loved him. Seeing all of his things emptied out from her closet, should have given her some release but in truth all it did was make her want to run out to the woods and shake him back to reality, because of this thought exactly, Meredith walked to the door grabbing her black coat along with her knitted white scarf.

upon her arrival at the trailer, Meredith found hero's self astonished at the sight before her, the world renowned neurosurgeon Derek shepherd irrevocably drunk in front of her.

She watched from her car as his body swayed from side to side, his body clearly tense when he noticed her shadow sitting behind the wheel of her car hidden in the obscurity of the night.
Meredith took a deep breath before she got off of the car before walking to the stammering drunk disaster her dearest mcdreamy had become.

"you cleaned all your clothes out of the house" she spoke softly, walking up to him giving him a soft expression.

"go home Meredith, just go home" Derek responded looking up to her shaking his head in a frantic motion, his voice on the cusp of anger and somehow also about to break.

"how long are you planning on hiding out here" Meredith retorted, still trying to keel herself calm "you made a mistake, she's dead" she paused "and you can't hide from that"

Never could Meredith have in years pictured herself like this, so deeply in love with a man that she was willing to help him through his darkest time.

For better or worse, Meredith grey was in love with Derek shepherd and cone fell or high water she was going to whether this storm along side him.

"i'm not hiding, i'm done, i'm done operating" Derek replied again, clearly not understanding what Meredith meant, though she could not be sure if it was because of how intoxicated he was or because of the fact that he seemed far more occupied with obstinate the empty bottles of alcohol he had consumed, exactly how he had such coordination while with such high levels of intoxication was something Meredith could not comprehend.

"so you're just quitting" she continued, her voice growing some power.

"you should understand better than anyone else, you wrote the book on quitting, running, hiding, you've written a lot of books Meredith"
Meredith could hear the judgment in her voice.

"that may be true, but i'm here now" she said.

"oh great, what an amazing promise" he snorted out "how exactly is that of any use to me now Meredith, how can i-" he stoped. his voice suddenly full of emotion as he continued "how can i continue on when i have taken not only the life of an expecting mother, but of the child that she was expecting"

"Derek, it wasn't your fault, you have to let all of that guilt go" Meredith said walking yo yo him, placing her hands on the sides of his face.
"NO MEREDITH" he shouted, pulling away from her before feeling the soft touch of her hand pulling him closer to her.

"Derek listen to me - i know that you are in pain but hiding away isn't going to help" Meredith spoke softly "i'm not going to abandon you, i won't let you go through this alone, i've been where you are now and i know that you need me here, Derek i chose you, i love you and i'm not going to leave you now" Meredith spoke, watching his eyes full with tears as he heard her speak.

Derek had always known that he was in love with her but he never knew just how much she truly loved him, realizing how much he truly meant to her brought joy to his heart, but tears to his eyes. he would never be worthy of her.
"Meredith" he cried bringing himself into her warm welcoming arms.

She could feel him cry in her arms. All the emotion from the past few weeks crashing the walls that he had built up to protect the pain he was hiding behind him.

So they stood in the middle of the woods, where there were no witnesses but each other.
It seems like they stood for hours before they silently walked hand in hand back to the trailer.

She watched as he quietly disrobed, his eyes still red and swollen from the tears they had shed. Soon after he was dressed in his Bowdoin t shirt along with his plaid pajama pants.

Meredith once again stood going to the small dresser that once housed all of his clothing to the last drawer in which she found some disregarded clothing that belonged to her from the time they had spent in the trailer before they moved in together.

She took off her clothing, changing into the pajamas she had found shoved in the back of the drawer before returning to the bed next to him.

Meredith knew that he was still in pain but she also knew that they could whether any storm together.

She remember how he had once told her that she was like coming up for fresh air to him and she was beginning to understand that he was exactly that for her.

She gave him a soft smile moving closer to him, watch as he retired the same smile before cuffing closer to her body, placing his head on her chest before drifting off to sleep.

He was still broken inside but Meredith knew that as long as they were together they would be able to heal together. She would stand next to him in this inner battle he was facing, the guilt that he felt from losing his patient, learning to trust her again.

Any problem they had could easily be solved as long as they had each other.

After that final thought, Meredith closed her eyes as she drifted off into a deep sleep feeling the arms of the man that she loved tightly around her.
