Kiritsugu Emiya has not always been a cold-blooded killer, nor is he always making choices based on pure pragmatism.

It could be said that before becoming the despicable Magus Killer, he is a decent person with a good mindset. A person that, if given the chance, would fearlessly sacrifice himself just so he could save others from the same fate - A hero of justice

The problem, apparently, is that "he" is not. In this case, the "Kiritsugu" I am referring to is different to the "Kiritsugu" that is "me"

Unlike me, my alternate self has someone to rely on. A mentor who teach him the way of an assassin, Natalia Kaminski. An assistant, Maiya Hisui, that can cover his track with the same efficiency

I have none of them. Neither do I have those who gave him emotional support in his most trying times

Irisviel von Einzbern is Kiritsugu's lover, who represents the lost part of the assassin's morality

Kiritsugu Emiya is Irisviel's lover, the one who ultimately made her more than just an emotionless Homunculus

Their child, Iliya, is someone born from that love. A child that would assist her brother in saving his love years later down the line, ultimately ending the tragedy known as the Holy Grail War

At least, that's how it went down in Canon.

With the granting of my own Command Seals and having my plan changed, it can be said that the transpired events in Canon did not happen

Iliyasviel von Einzbern did not exist in this timeline, and Iri remains a puppet to the Einzbern

My face twitched at the thought

I still have moral, but what is moral in the face of my own selfish desires?

I and Saber walked down the street of Fuyuki. The people are bustling around the place we're going to, having time to explore the busy center due to it being a Saturday

"Master, have you always been this bad at cooking?" Saber asked me as we passed through the crowd

"As far as I remember, I've lived off on canned food and military rations. I just don't cook that often" I admitted

"That sounds unhealthy. What kind of person lives on prepackaged food alone?"

"Somebody who can't be bothered to waste his time on unnecessary luxuries" My gaze locked onto her "Why the sudden curiosity, Saber?"

Emerald eyes blinked in surprise, before a sheepish look crossed her face

"It's just something that I realized" Her eyes strayed forward "You know my identity. You know the events that transpired through my life. And yet I know almost nothing about you, so I thought it'd be best to rectify that"

"Ah, hm, a valid reason"

From a technical standpoint, there is no obligation to follow that request of hers. The Grail War does not require it's participant to connect with each others on an emotional level to gain leverage in this war

Yet still, what is the harm in doing so? I saw communication as a way to better teamwork and foster cooperation in multiple individuals.

"My name is Kiritsugu Emiya. Fifth heir to the Emiya family"

I closed my eyes

"And I...have a fear of time. That's what you need to know about me. I fear losing time, I fear the passage of time, I fear wasting my time doing something that does not contribute anything to the obejective I have"
