When Touhou met MHA | Book 2: Barriers and Borders

Chapter 4

"Let's start the first match of the Quarter-Finals!" Midnight declared, "Shoto Todoroki versus Sanae Kochiya!"

The contestants walked onto the battlefield.

"BEGIIIIIIIIIN!" Mike yelled.

Todoroki started by freezing the whole battlefield with his foot. Sanae, who often saw this trick, leaped up, "Moses's Miracle!"

Todoroki dodged and shot more ice at her. Sanae jumped back and noticed something peculiar, He kept using his left side to attack me. Can't he use his right side? This isn't going to be a fair match if he kept doing that! I'll have to make him use his right side. His quirk is Half-Hot, Half-Cold, right? I've seen him arguing with his father right before the match. His father is Endeavor... the second top hero? I should provoke him, or push him to his ice limit, Sanae thought. She sent a blast of air at him which pushed him back. His made a block of ice behind him to prevent getting of the stage.

He's trembling. From fear or from cold? Sanae wondered, Hope it's from the cold, that means that he pushed himself to his limit! She used Wave-Call and waited for Todoroki to make his move. Todoroki seemed rather stunned or surprise for a moment then suddenly unleashed a powerful jet of fire at her attack which instantly vaporized at the contact. Now let's get started, Sanae thought.

Todoroki seemed to try the engulf the whole battlefield on fire. 

"The Day the Sea Split!" Sanae cried.

Giant undulating waves appeared around the battle field and quickly closed around Todoroki. His fire got extinguished and he collapsed.

"Shoto Todoroki is unable to move; Sanae Kochiya wins!" Midnight announced, "Sanae Kochiya advances to the Semi-Finals!"

The crowd cheered and clapped as Todoroki tried to walk of the stage.

"Next, we have Ibara Shiozaki against Marisa Kirisame!"

Shiozaki and Marisa walked onto the stage, waiting for the signal.

"Begin!"

Thick vines started charging towards Marisa, who leapt onto her broom and dodged them. It'll be hard for me to use my ability against those vines. I can simply try to drive her off the stage, Marisa thought with a smirk. 

"Blazing Star," Marisa whispered, and she charged forward with unstoppable speed. She grabbed Shiozaki's arm, and threw her out of bounds.

"Ibara Shiozaki is out of bounds; Marisa Kirisame is the winner!" Midnight announced, "For the third match, here is Mina Ashido against Sakuya Izayoi!"

"Begin!"

Sakuya threw her knives three by three at Ashido, who dodged them all with grace and charged at her. Sakuya waited until Ashido was in range.

"Silver Bound," Sakuya murmured. A circle of knives appeared around her which charged everywhere, slowly, leaving her opponent nowhere to run.

While Ashido was trying to dodge all the knives, Sakuya used Inscribed Red Soul and Mina Ashido collapsed.

"Mina Ashido has been knocked out; Sakuya Izayoi wins!" Midnight announced, "Finnally, we have Reimu Hakurei against Ejiro Kirishima!"

Reimu walked onto the stage, summoning her gohei while Ejiro walked onto the other side and hardened himself entirely. 

"Begin!"

Kirishima charged at Reimu the moment the signal was given. I can try Sanae's trick of pushing him to his limit maybe. He's playing on the offensive, guess I'll do defense. Besides, my ability is better at defense, Reimu thought. She placed a barrier in front of her while Kirishima rained punches on her, each of them barely making a dent in the wall. He then jumped to one side of the barrier to hit her on her other side.

Seeing her chance, she used Ascension Kick and kicked him away from her. He was breathing heavily and started sweating. Time to do the finale, Reimu thought.

"Expanding Barrier!" Reimu cried. Squares of light appeared around her and became bigger and bigger. Kirishima got pushed back and off the stages.

"Ejiro Kirishima is out of bounds!" Midnight declared, "Reimu Hakurei advance to the semi-finals!"

The crowd cheered and clapped as the four contestants' image showed up on the screen.

"AAAAAAND IT'S THE SEMI-FINAAAAAAAALS!" Mike screeched.

"Sanae Kochiya versus Marisa Kirisame!" Midnight announced.

Marisa and Sanae walked to the stage.

"Start!"

Marisa summoned her broom while Sanae summoned her gohei. They charged up their energy for a spellcard.

Suddenly, an explosion went off outside the dome protecting the people in the arena. Two seconds of silence as people stared in awe outside, then chaos broke out. 

"What's happening?"

"Is that part of the festival!?"

"Are there villains?"

"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"

Heroes went to check what was happening. Marisa and Sanae stepped off the stage and joined the rest of their class. 

"Marisa! Sanae! Over here!" Sakuya called out from her seat.

"Look at the dome!" Reimu interrupted, pointing up.

The wall protecting them was flickering until it vanished.

"Someone broke through it!" Sanae exclaimed.

"We should evacuate!" Iida yelled, making them jump.

"O-Okay," Midoriya stammered.

They made their way out of the arena. There was some sort of purple fog was surrounding them. The villains were back.
