When Touhou met MHA | Book 2: Barriers and Borders

Chapter 9

"NOW WHAT!?" Reimu yelled. "Why are you fighting again!?"

"What do you mean?" Eirin asked, standing up.

"You just left a few minutes ago!"

"Not that I remember," Mokou replied. She brushed the broken wood off her pants.

"Let me guess..." Sanae said. "You were fighting because Mokou tried to warn you about the villains,"

"How do you know?" Eirin asked, apparentely mystified.

"I might have accidentally reversed the portal too," Sakuya said. 

"Nice house," Mokou said, inspecting the place.

"Can you just go back?"

"Ok then,"

Once again, Mokou and Eirin stepped into the portal.

"I guess we'll need to buy a new closet," Sakuya said glumly.

"Hey girls? Don't you think that maybe... we should occasionnally pay a visit to Gensokyo?" Sanae asked. "To check how things are over there,"

"We should do that after the exams," Reimu said.

"What exams?" Marisa asked, panicking.

"The first term exam,"

"Uh oh..."

"Don't tell me you didn't study!"

"I-uh... when are the exams?"

"Next Monday!"

"Oh shoot! I gotta go study! Bye!"

Marisa ran into her room, carrying her books.

The rest of the girls decided to go for a night walk outside. Sakuya, Sanae and Reimu gazed at the stars above, talking.

A week later...

The last test has arrived. It was a fighting exam.

"You either have to secure your opponent with the handcuff, or escape through the door," All Might explained. "Since you are 24 students, two teachers will have to face two teams. Now here are your teams!"

All Might clicked a button on his remote and the teams appeared. Sakuya was with Reimu and Marisa was with Sanae. Argh! Why the hell are the four of us always together!? Reimu thought grouchily. 

"And we shall start with team four: Kirisame and Kochiya versus Thirteen!"

Marisa and Sanae went into a large arena with nothing inside except a gate in the distance. They were given a pair of handcuffs. The other students went into a room with a giant screen to watch them.

Marisa summoned her mini-hakkero while Sanae summoned her gohei. 

"Are you ready?" Thirteen asked. "Start!"

On that, her finger started sucking all the air around them. They felt themselves being pulled forward. Marisa summoned her broom and leapt on it, trying to resist the suction. Sanae managed to grap her broom's handle and thought carefully what to do. We either use the handcuffs or the gate right? The gate is behind her... and she's pulling us towards her! Sanae thought, a plan forming in her hand. She let go of the broom as she got pulled towards Thirteen.

"Moses's Miracle!" Sanae cried. She instantly teleported above Thirteen. Thirteen, caught by surprise, staggered backwards as Sanae ran towards the gate.

"Kochiya passes!" All Might yelled.

"You can do it!" Sanae cheered as Marisa tried to dash for the gate.

"Rghn... Stardust Reverie!" Marisa said, gritting her teeth. She rammed into Thirteen, sending her flying. She passed the gate, stars in her wake!

"Kirisame passes as well!" All Might declared. "Next team is Mineta and Sero against Midnight!"

As the other students watched them fight, Reimu and Sakuya congratulated the first team in the hallways.

"That was really good," Sakuya said, smiling.

"It was okay," Reimu corrected her. "They could do better,"

"Oh yeah? Let's see you try," Marisa retorted.

"Well, our team is next right after this round,"

"How d'you know?"

Reimu pointed to a list in the room to watch the test, "There,"

A few minutes later, it was their test!

"Team 7: Hakurei and Izayoi against Eraser Head!" All Might announced.

They were led into a giant labyrinth of buildings like inside of a town.

"Start!"

They started running toward the gate ahead of them. Suddenly, Aizawa leapt into the middle of the rode and threw his scarf. The girls, who were godly at danmaku, dodged it easily even when the vines charged towards them. Reimu kept running as fast as she could. Sakuya threw a volley of knives and followed her. She slowed down Eraser Head's speed, which costed her some energy, so she ran slightly slower than Reimu. 

Aizawa's hair started floating up his head. His goggles had a twinge of red glow. But the slowness didn't get away. He seemed surprised, which was weird as he barely showed any emotions usually. He tried throwing his binding scarf at them again, which resulted in a fail as Reimu placed a Cautionary Border and stopped it. 

"BOTH PASS!" All Might declared.

The girls then watched the other students do their tests until it was time to go to their mansion again.

Teacher's Meeting 

"Hello everyone," Nezu greeted. "Class 1-A has finished their test today,"

"Sir?"

The speaker was Shota Aizawa.

"Yes?"

"Hakurei and Izayoi... I couldn't erase their quirks,"

"Oh? What happened, exactly?"

"I felt Izayoi slowing me down so I tried to erase her quirk. Didn't work at all," 

Was it his imagination? Or did All Might tense slightly?

"All Might? Your reaction seems like you know something," Nezu said, who also noticed this.

"No, I don't," All Might said firmly, glancing at the table.

"Ok then," Nezu looked at Aizawa. "If this happens again, report it,"

"Yes, sir," Aizawa replied.

Squeak!

Everyone stared at something that fell out of nowhere onto the table. Nezu picked it up. It was a little doll, with a big red bow and a navy blue dress.
