Featherheart closed his eyes tightly, he tried to dream with Foxclaw but nothing came. Pinefrost prodded Featherheart before he could drift to sleep.
"Featherheart! Me and Blueleaf are going hunting, wanna come?" he asked gently.
Featherheart looked up wearily, he felt sleepy from last night but he nodded. "Do you mind if I go with a full belly?"
"You can eat while hunting," He urged. "Come on, the hawks will be out early."
Featherheart padded out the den and stretched. Cold air billowed his fur, despite that he followed his son down into camp. Blueleaf sat beside Mumbletooth, her mother, discussing. Mumbletooth let out a purr and Blueleaf began to brighten up.
The silver she-cat raced over to Pinefrost and pressed her muzzle onto his.
"Pinefrost! I'm expecting kits!" She chirped.
Pinefrost's eyes grew wide with awe. "It looks like Applenose isn't the only one." He me-
wed lovingly.
"Applenose is having another litter?" Featherheart meowed.
Pinefrost fixed his gaze on his father. "Indeed." He then looked at Blueleaf. "I'll be the best father I can ever be!"
"I know you will," she purred. "Let's go hunting now."
Featherheart felt his muscles heavy with exhaustion. He had caught a old fat mouse, b-
ut it wasn't much of a hurry to catch it. Blueleaf had gotten a huge rabbit and Pinefrost had chased a squirrel that appeared from CloudClan's territory. Featherheart pricked his ears as he heard rustlings from behind him. A tiny shape appeared from the side of CloudClan's territory.
The cat was oddly small and was light brown with a creamy white chest fur. Her blue eyes wide.
"Hey! I know you." Featherheart hissed, he stepped closer to the tiny cat.
"What?" she stammered. "You—you do?"
Featherheart cocked his head. "Brightpaw?"
The small apprentice looked more scared than she already was. She began to scramble back. "I'll go away now."
"No." Featherheart meowed. "I need to ask you something important."
He kept his claws sheathed, looking calmly at the apprentice. Brightpaw lifted her head but she padded closer stiffly. "Okay, but be quick."
"Do you know where Lightspark went?"
Brightpaw looked shocked.
"Lightspark was my mentor."
"She's my daughter," Featherheart mewed softly.
Brightpaw looked at him as if she didn't believe him but shrugged. "I don't know where Lightspark went, sorry."
"It's fine, just—go now."
The light brown she-cat nodded and trotted away to her territory. She casted a swift glance at Featherheart and disappeared through the long grass.
Featherheart raced back to where Pinefrost and Blueleaf were. He dropped his catch down glancing at the two uneasily. Pinefrost just shrugged and led them back to camp. "Wait!" his son hissed. "Like I told you, a hawk."
He glanced up to see the large creature soaring in the sky, letting out a screech. Bluele-
af bunched up her muscles ready to leap. The hawk soared down, grabbing its catch which was a mouse in its feet. Before the hawk could fly off with it Pinefrost jumped and dug his claws into the hawk's wings.
