Chapter twenty-eight: A clue

The next day we decided to figure out our eggs so we had a few days to come up with a plan. We were standing alone in the common room. The others had classes. First George opened his egg.

Only to realize that it made no sound. Next was me, and we were met with an ear-deafening sound. Then Fred went and this time something useful came out of it. We all looked confused at one another then at the eggs.

We thought about how we could make our own eggs work. After some time an idea came to me. The idea was not the best but it could make sense.

"Let me see your eggs real quick" They both handed them to me. I looked at the top of the eggs where the answer hit me like a brick. They looked at me waiting for an answer.

"I know what to do. On the top of all the eggs, there is a symbol. Considering the fact that Fred's egg was the only one that worked, it adds up." They looked at me like I had gone mental. I rolled my eyes at them before continuing.

"On the top of your egg there was a symbol of fire, and you opened it on earth which can be the opposite. Georges's egg is the symbol of water which means you have to open it up in the air, and on mine, it has the air symbol which means I have to open mine underwater to get our answers."

They looked at me wide-eyed. "How on earth did you become smart? I swear even Hermione could not have figured it out that fast" They both said.

I smiled at them before George went to get his broom and I got ready to find somewhere to open my egg. I left the twins and went to find one of my older "Friends" who is a prefect so they could let me into the prefect bathroom.

He actually did, and I went under the water with the egg. I got the clues to the next task.

The things I found the most important were that I would be by the black lake, the fact that I had one hour, and I was to retrieve something. I made my way back to the dorm in hope of seeing the others there. When I walked in I only saw George.

"Did you figure it out?" He asked me with a hopeful smile.

"Yeah. Mine had something to do with the lake and retrieving something. You?"

"Mine held the same only that I had to do something in the air" I sat down on my bed.

"So I assume we are all alone in this task then," I said, a little nervous.

"Don't worry. We are all making it out alive. I swear" He said smiling. A little while later Fred came in to get us down to dinner.

The next day I spent in the library with the others trying to help them make a plan. I already had my plan ready. It took almost the whole day but both of them had made good plans to manage the task.

On the day of the task, I walked around trying to find my brother. "Have any of you seen Newt today?" I said worryingly.

They just shook their heads and I continued my search. After about 20 minutes I gave up. I had to get down to the lake soon anyways.

The other task did not start until another had finished. They did this so that everybody could watch all the challenges. I stood with the others really nervous.

Fred noticed right away and trapped me in a hug before kissing my forehead. And with that, I walked to the other two champions. I saw Fleur and Alex.

They both had the same look of horror and fear as I had. But once we heard the shot signaling for us to start we did not hesitate.

I was quick to cast a bubblehead charm on myself plus a spell that would turn my feet into something better equipped for swimming. It took me some time to find my way down there. I also had to battle some grindylows, but made it there eventually.

That's when I saw what the prize was. It was less what and more who. I saw three people. One looked a lot like Fleur, one I recognized as a Durmastrang student, and then I saw my brother.

I made my way over there and while I was trying to get him loose, Fleur came over and freed her person. When I had finally got the ropes free from him, Alex came over. I hurried up to the shore.

When all three of us were on land and checked for injuries we got our placings. Fleur came in first and me in second, with Alex in last. After that, we made our way to the forbidden forest where the next part was being held.

Fred looked really nervous but as the whistle went off he went in. After some time he came back with his prize. He had a few scratches but ensured me that he was fine after I had asked him countless times.

Then it was time for George and he looked like he could faint. They had something to do in the air and they had to do it on brooms, and Viktor was on the same task. Fred walked over to try and calm him down.

Then he was off. The first back was Krum (Not even surprised). And then came George. After everyone was cleared from the hospital wing everyone from Hogwarts was celebrating even some Slytherins.

I was surprised when I saw Malfoy there, he even said he was sorry for what he had said to me. "Are you okay?" I asked my brother who stood in a far corner.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine. Wait why are you asking me you are the one competing"

"Hah, I guess you are right. Just one more task to go."

"Trust me when I say you will do great" I hugged him before heading to bed.

I wish someone had told me that these tasks were exhausting before I entered them.

The next chapter will start right before the third task and continue from there. This is just because there is nothing interesting happening in the time between.
