The interview was over, Ladybug never showed.
He was sitting in the alleyway him and Marinette always transform in. He sat his back pressed against the wall, almost hyperventilating as his mind goes back to the day his mom died.

"I can't wait to see you again, bugaboo." He kissed Ladybug's hand as she quickly pulled it away. "Nice try kitty. Maybe another day." He smiled at her, "So you're saying you'll give me a chance one day?" She laughs shaking her head, "I've seen into the future and trust me. Me and you and love, don't mix." Her memories go to Chat Blanc and how much pain he was in.
"Like I told you before the future isn't written in stone." He reached for her hand again. "Silly kitty, hurry before you turn back! Bug out!" She swung away leaving Chat Noir. After he transformed back he took his phone out of his pocket, only to see hundreds of missed calls from his dad.
He played one voicemail of the hundreds sent, "Adrien..." He could hear his father crying, "Your mother. It's not looking good, please hurry to the hospital. She's holding on as long as she can. Please Adrien, she's begging to see you." Tears forced their way down Adrien's face as he sprinted to the hospital.
"Mom! Mom!" He yelled throughout the whole entire hospital. He knew where her room was and he didn't take a breath until he was there. He opened the door. His eyes flickered from the lifeless body on the hospital bed, his father with his head in his hands, the flatline on the screen of the heart monitor. The only sound in the whole room was the endless beeping of the heart monitor. Adrien fell to his knees, trying to cover his ears, trying to escape the sound.
If there was a hell, he felt as though he was currently in it. He wanted to save so many people to make her proud. But he lost her because he was busy saving people. He regretted never spending more time with her. For never telling the truth about him being Chat Noir. His loud sobs echoed throughout the room. His entire chest seared with pain. Never has he felt such a devastating heartbreak.
The next day he called Ladybug and asked to meet with her. Even with his eyes masked, she could tell he hadn't slept. His tear stained face, his messed up hair, his cat ears constantly in a saddened state. "Oh kitty..." She rushed over to him and wrapped her arms around him. "L-Ladybug..." His voice was weak. "I can't do this anymore. I'm not... I'm not made to be a hero. I couldn't even save..." He closed his eyes and his eyes burned from the memory of his mother's lifeless body.
He sobbed as she caressed his cheek with so much worry in her eyes. He lightly pushed her hand away and shook his head. "I can't do this Ladybug... I'm not... I'm not strong enough." She tried to stop him from jumping away but her efforts were worthless, her calls for him to come back even more futile.

After the memories played in his mind, he stood up ran home to his father's room, tears drenching his face. Opening the door without even knocking.
"Father!" He cried out to his dad sitting in his chair causing him to stand up. "What's wrong, Adrien?" He said with worry in his eyes. "My mom... she's always been by my side. Mom's in every little gesture of mine. We're... Mom and I are connected. Dad, do you think Mom would forgive me?"
He sobbed while looking down. "I tried so hard to save her, do you think she'll forgive me?" His dad hugged him, "You're just like your mom. Of course she'd forgive you!" This made Adrien sob harder. His endless sobs while in his father's grasp.
Mom, I'm happy. Thank you. Thank you. Goodbye.
"I thought you would never come back." Nathalie says from the doorway after Adrien left to go to his room. Gabriel shook his head, "I'm not the only one who's changed. Adrien especially. But... The loss of his mother was tragic for both me and him. Was it really necessary for him to grow?" He looked down and continued, "His growth is spurred by sorrow... if Adrien is to walk that path, he might have to lose someone to move forward."

"Adrien!" Kagami called out to him, only to stop in her tracks looking at him. Huh? This is so weird... I can't find the right words to say. "Kagami?" He said turning around. "You've got nothing to say to me?" "Huh? You look so grown up." She said her cheeks growing hot. "What's up with that?" He said with a laugh. Huh? What the heck? If I don't hold them in, I might cry? Cry?

Adrien sat by the bridge as Kagami ran over to him. "Adrien!" She called out as she sprinted. Her next words made his eye widen as his body reacting without a thought going through his mind. He ran as fast as he could to the hospital. All the way to the room that read, Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
He threw the door open and stared at Marinette who had her head wrapped in gauze and smiled sweetly at him and waved.
