Macaw woke, yawning as he pushed Lavender off his tail. "Wake up", he yawned slowly, shaking the purple SilkWing awake. Lavender let out a protesting growl, but woke up. She looked over at Shadeseeker, who stared silently at the mountains that felt so far from here. As the sun moved, the large silver scales near Shade's eyes gleamed.
Macaw walked over and batted the NightWing's head a bit. "Hmm?", Shade inquired, snapping back to reality. "You were zoning off again, big guy", Macaw said, his scales shifting as he stretched.
"Oh", Shade said, standing slowly. "C'mon, it's not much longer to the rainforest", Lavender said, spreading her wings.
Macaw stared for a moment at Lavender's large wings. They sparkled with numerous blues and purples. The edges were lined with white that looked like splashed water. It was quite majestic.
They were heading over to the rainforest to inform Queen Glory and her friends of a recent future that Shade saw. A large, devastating storm that would wash over the entire continent of Pyrrhia. If kingdoms weren't warned in time, many dragons could die.
Macaw's wings began to grow tired as they fought against a strong wind. The sky was very slowly darkening into a grey as clouds gathered to water the continent. He could feel the droplets beginning to fall, the soft patters like mouse feet on stone.
The rainforest was right in front of them, in all of it's colorful green glory. The leaves were large and beautiful, lush in green and color. The numerous birds greeted them with wide wings and smiling beaks. A few tired sloths turned their heads slowly to the large reptiles entering their home.
Lavender soared through the trees with grace and splendor, her purple scales shining with the droplets that fell upon them.
The light slowly disappeared as they made their way through the winding vines and tree mazes. Shadeseeker could barely be seen among the vast shadows of the tree canopies above them. The rainforest palace was in their sights, the colorful flowers like gems embedded in the walls. Queen Glory sat upon her throne, silently looking through papers.
The RainWing queen looked up at the wet dragons who landed in. Seeing the urgent look in their eyes, she stood immediately. "Why have you come?", Glory asked in a seemingly regal voice. Queen-dom has served her posture and character well.
"There is a storm coming, but I fear it is too late to warn anybody", Shade said, looking solemnly at a leaf that set on fire from lightning. A Leafwing shot out of the trees and quickly put it out. Glory frowned, her eyes now filled with worry and thought. Macaw wondered what she was thinking.
"Even if we can't warn everybody, perhaps we can warn most", Glory said, nodding to herself. "I will let the school and other kingdoms know. For now, you help me warn mine. Let everyone in the rainforest know of this, and maybe we can avoid anything too bad. For now, tell me, how bad will it be if none listen?"
"Many deaths, my queen", Shade sighed. "My visions showed me a vast storm who's lightning struck many. The entire continent was covered in its wrath. I fear that if nobody listens, most dragons will die."
Glory frowned once more, urgency now swarming her eyes. "Then go quickly. There is no time to lose."
Lavender, Macaw, and Shadeseeker nodded, all flying off into the rainforest.
Let's just hope everyone will be warned in time.
Lavender warned the Silkwings, Leafwings, and Hivewings of the coming danger. She spoke of devastating deaths, and made horrid images using her silk. Fearful, the tribes instantly listened, following her to a safe place in an underground cave.
Macaw warned all of the Rainwings, speaking of the large storm. Knowing they would not be convinced if he only told them of the storm, he told them of death and the multiple losses. Immediately the colorful tribe followed him to the cave.
Shade warned the skeptical Nightwings. At first they didn't want to hear it, asking how he knew in the first place. However, the second he told them of his vision, their attitudes changes. Shade spoke with great detail, telling them of the storm's wrath. Horrified of the idea of this great loss, the Nightwings followed him into the cave.
Soon, five tribes were in one large cave, their panicked murmurs echoing around the walls. Dragonets curled up with their parents, shivering out of cold and fear. Elders huddled in one place, talking in vivid whispers of stories similar to this one.
The tribes instantly hushed and froze when a loud clap of thunder was heard. It sounded so close, as if lightning struck right outside, trying to strike the poor dragons inside.
Lavender curled up with her little sister, trying to calm the crying baby Silkwing. Shade stayed with his grandmother, helping calm her old heart. Macaw was bunched up with his siblings and parents, creating a protective ball around one another. Queen Glory stormed in with Deathbringer, both of them instantly going to calm the others.
Lavender put her now sleeping sibling with her parents, peeking outside. She let out a sudden gasp and fell back, landing on her bottom. Macaw and Shade instantly went over, looking to see what she saw. There, standing right outside was a magnificent silver dragon with flashing blue underscales and four black eyes.
His wings were shaped like gliders, and his shape narrow and sleek. His horns curled in spirals near his head, and his beaked snout held a small horn on top of it. On him were two tails, and a single forked tongue slipped in an out of his mouth like a snake's.
The large dragon stared at Macaw, Shade, and Lavender for a moment, then lifted off, leaving an egg. The storm abruptly stopped as soon as the silver wonder was gone.
The three dragonets went forward and looked at the small blue egg. It seemed to shiver from cold, and even moved around. Lavender found herself huddling around it, and the egg stopped shivering and moving. It leaned itself against the purple Silkwing and vibrated softly.
"Did that dragon....", Shade started.
"... Give it to us?", Macaw finished.
Dragons went slowly out of the cave and surrounded them in an awed circle.
What was going on?
